(April 17, 2026) Step inside PMC’s Luton factory in England for a behind-the-scenes tour of how their speakers are hand-built to perfection.

PMC (Professional Monitor Company) speakers are widely used in professional audio, serving as the reference standard in high-profile studios, mastering houses, and broadcasting facilities globally, including major installations at Metropolis, Capitol Studios, and the BBC. They are particularly prominent in Dolby Atmos music mixing rooms worldwide, including at Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group. They're also heralded for their high-level stereo and home theater capabilities.

In this exclusive factory tour, we take you deep inside PMC’s production facility to see how every speaker is built with precision, care, and consistency. From cabinet assembly and crossover construction to in-house driver manufacturing and final testing, everything happens under one roof in Luton. This isn’t a traditional assembly line. Each speaker is hand-built in a static workstation environment to protect delicate finishes and ensure quality at every step.

Along the way, you’ll see PMC’s attention to detail in action. Crossovers are hand-assembled, and components are individually measured and matched to tighter tolerances than industry standards. Drive units are built in-house, including hand-doped diaphragms and precision-wound voice coils. Even the magnet structures are assembled and charged on-site, giving PMC full control over performance and consistency.

The tour wraps with a look inside PMC’s testing process, where every single speaker is measured and listened to against a reference standard before it leaves the factory. It’s a combination of engineering, craftsmanship, and critical listening that defines PMC’s approach and helps explain why their speakers are trusted at the highest levels of professional and home audio.

Many thanks to Keith Tonge, Tom Loader, Olie Thomas, and the amazing folks at PMC for opening their doors and generously making their time available for this project!

Below, you'll find two video links. The first is the factory tour. The second is an interview with Olie Thomas at CEDIA 2025. Enjoy!

It definitely has a smaller business feel, but not in a negative way. Cozy and passionate.

We might actually be able to arrange that!

Is that 191lbs per speaker... or for the pair?

It would be impossible for one person to move/shift if it is per speaker.

Time to hit the weight room, Sonnie!
