I accepted an invitation to go to Sony HQ Japan and have meetings with the engineers to recommend video display enhancement priorities.

Unrelated, but wanted to eliminate the need for another post, here's some new information on the new A9H OLED Master Series, estimated to begin shipping by the end of Q3, will have a new and more powerful video processor. No name for the new upgraded processor at this moment. If all goes as planned I'll be receiving our first mass production A8H series, which will begin shipping earlier, likely no later than the end of April 2020.

I'll post more later along with additional information and tentative launch dates and pricing.

Have fun in Japan and make note of the CDC website for traveling to Japan. :)

Thank you! I just clicked on the CDC link you provided and I'm now considering the MMR vaccination.

Edited, 1/30/20 8am EST, in reading further I don't think I'll need the MMR vaccination as I was born before 1957 and remember well my bouts with measles, and mumps as a child. Here's how the CDC explains it.

* Birth before 1957 provides only presumptive evidence for measles, mumps, and rubella. Before vaccines were available, nearly everyone was infected with measles, mumps, and rubella viruses during childhood. The majority of people born before 1957 are likely to have been infected naturally and therefore are presumed to be protected against measles, mumps, and rubella. Healthcare personnel born before 1957 without laboratory evidence of immunity or disease should consider getting two doses of MMR vaccine.

Great. One less thing to worry about. :)

You should be good then. Just keep a face mask as well as hand sanitizers nearby to help prevent the coronavirus since there are reported cases in Japan and per most news sites, face masks are sold out in the area.

Another day, another rash of phone calls, emails and PMs saying someone on another forum is spreading FUD about Sony's A8G and A8H.

First I was told that Sony gives better support the the A9G than they do to the A8G and upcoming A8H. They pointed out the fact that the A9G got the Android Pie upgrade and the A8G did not. Well the only truth to that statement is that the A9G did get the Android Pie upgrade and the A8G did not, but where the untruth comes in is that it's due to Sony's decision to give better support to the Master Series.

The real and only reason the A8G did not get the Android Pie is because it was not designed to support Android Pie, but the A8H has and will continue to get every other upgrade that the A9G gets. The A8G processor was not capable to support the Pie operating system.

So this is totally a non issue for the upcoming A8H as it will launch with the flagship X1 Ultimate processor and ship with the Android Pie Smart user interface and Android's new and more powerful operating system ready to rock and roll right out of the box.

I'll post the other misinformation shortly.

Welcome to a new episode of how the World (outside of AVNirvana) turns with misinformation.

Here’s some of the new controls and settings we’ll have on the A8H when it arrives early May. No upgrade is needed it will come out of the box ready. For 2020 Sony has redesigned the firmware that resides on the X1 Ultimate chip to drive the OLED pixels more effetely and added several enhancements.

Clearness, aka, BFI are, Min, 1, 2, 3, 4, Max. To adjust Clearness, set MotionFlow to Custom first and to your specific liking.

The A8H will also have the new Android Pie operating system also ready out of the box.

We notified all of our A9H pre order customers that Sony has canceled this series and will continue the A9G through the balance of the 2020 model year and that Sony will continue to develop firmware updates to enhance the performance of the A9G.

Just got a call from one of our clients who says he heard on another forum that the A9H was not confirmed as canceled and may ship later this year. Sorry to say this is not correct.

Robert - they're not planning on pulling out of the OLED market or anything, right? Just cancelling this year's model?

Probably a smart move on Sony's part imo. Apparently there are a lot of SUVs on boats right now collecting dust.

Sony is heavily committed to OLED display technology and the advancement of their OLED TV line-up. Sony's 2020 A8H series is an excellent example of Sony's commitment to new premium OLED TVs.

I just got conformation from my Sony contacts that the information about VRR and ALLM dropping from the X900H is incorrect.

An official statement from Sony will be coming later.
