I am sure everybody here wears seat belts but for those who "sometimes" forget or know folks who don't wear at all, here is something to remind you that seat belts are needed.

Won't even put it in gear without the belt strapped. Better to be safe than sorry. I have a hard-headed friend who never connects his until you tell him 3-4 times or until the dinger bell drives us all crazy. Some folk just want to be ignorant and stupid.

I actually stumbled across a video of a girl who was drinking and driving and had a wreck not wearing her seat belt. She was so drunk she was actually trying to push her dangling face back up against her facial bones after having it torn off. It was a horrifying sight. I would not even want to post it here, but it would be something everyone should have to view at least once. Just thinking about what I saw gives me the creeps.

Yeah, I can't believe people still don't buckle up..

Let me tell you a story as well as others here..

Few years ago, maybe 5 to 6 years back, my young kids and my parents were in my dad's car. My parents in the front and my kids in the back.

While they were crossing an intersection (they had the green), another vehicle t-boned them (He had the red and got the ticket, when questioned he said the sun was in his eyes and couldn't see the signal).. This caused my dad's car to spin around and then flip upside down and finally they landed in a grassy area. All the windows busted (front, sides, back) and the back door opened. My dad's vehicle was a Lexus RX300. Small SUV.

Now, they are all upside down inside the vehicle.. Luckily, within 500 feet to where they were was a police station as well as a fire station.. Within seconds, after the crash, police and fire were on the scene. Talk about good luck.

None of the doors could be opened but the back door swung open due to the crash and all of them were pulled out.

Also, I might add, all of them were wearing seat belts. Kids were in booster chairs but had seat belts.

Car was totaled of course but the main thing was that nobody got hurt outside of some small cuts due to the glass and soreness from the impact.

Seat belts save lives.. Period.

In 1971 I had EDEX Driver Training. Movies, Pictures of horrendous crashes. A lot of missed lunches those days. One thing taught tho. You can not control the vehicle if you can not stay behind the steering wheel.

Definitely agree with that.. I believe newton's law of motion applies here. :)

Yep... I have read more than one story of seat belts saving lives... quite a few more of them saving lives than of them hindering you. Matt Booth, who was my best friend, died on the night of April 15, 2002... I got the call at 1:30am and fell to my knees. He was killed in a one vehicle accident. He got thrown out the passenger window side and his head got lodged between the truck and the ground. It is logical to believe that if he had been wearing his seat belt, which I always stayed on him about, he might still be alive today.

Sorry to hear about your friend Matt. Yes, I can attest, seat belts save lives..
