So I walk into my bosses office today, He says here...take this and points out a Christie LX55 multimedia projector sitting on his floor.

It was brought to us months ago as it was found in an alley behind our building with no identification on it at all. No one has claimed it so he said to take it.
The specs are:

Image
  • 5500 ANSI lumens
  • 90% brightness uniformity
  • Contrast ratio: 1000:1 full field
Display Technology
  • 3 x 1.3" LCD panels
  • Native XGA 1024 x 768 resolution
Input Signal Compatibility
  • VGA through UXGA
  • Supports standard HDTV formats (480i, 480p, 575i, 575p, 720p, 1035i, and 1080i, 1080p via digital connection only)
  • Multi-standard video decoder
  • Horizontal and vertical scaling, all inputs
Scan Rates
  • Horizontal – 15 kHz to 100 kHz
  • Vertical – 50 Hz to 100 Hz
  • Pixel clock - 180 MHz max

I powered it up and it works great. the image is really bright but Im not really sure what I will use it for. My kids love playing the WiiU so maybe this can be mounted in the theater room as a dedicated gaming unit.

Thoughts?

my thoughts. A free projector is a good projector! always more use for free toys

Im still trying to understand how a projector like this would just be left in an alley downtown. Our security found it at 3am in the morning in the winter so it was well below freezing.

That's not normally something you just "find."

My immediate thought is: Fun Halloween prop potential!

Probably a business with more money than they know what to do with and replaced it with a newer model.

Then again... the thief might not could find a buyer and just dumped it.

I suspect it was hot as well.

My thoughts as well but with no ID on it anywhere its impossible to track down the owner. My brother is an officer here and he says not to worry given its been months.

I suspect it was hot as well.
Yup, you could probably hear it sizzle as it sat in the cold alley. Might take a while to warm up to operating temperature. Does anyone think the cold storage temperature damaged it in any way?

Well, the projector powered up without issue yesterday and the bulb is bright and the "replace bulb" warning light is not lite. The image with text from the menu is crisp and no bleeding of color from the other LCD panels so it was not miss handled.

I'm curious to see a picture of this bad boy...

Here you go :)

Looks like it's in good shape!

It does not have HDMI but it has DVI and VGA as well as component inputs. I have a DVI to HDMI adapter so that should work.

Congratulations Tony !!
