(October 1, 2025) RTI has released a nifty solution: the ISR-AB Advanced Base, a new accessory designed to extend the functionality of its ISR-4 and ISR-2 remotes. While most charging docks exist simply to keep remotes powered, the ISR-AB takes it a step further by combining charging with a dedicated Wi-Fi access point, three programmable scene buttons, and a Find-My-Remote feature.
The integrated 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi access point provides a direct and reliable connection for ISR remotes, creating a stable environment for control in both home and office applications. For integrators, this ensures that remotes always have a fast and reliable connection to the network, reducing latency and improving overall reliability.
Three soft-touch programmable buttons are built into the base, allowing users to activate custom scenes or common commands without needing to pick up the remote. This could include dimming lights, starting music, or switching inputs. The Find-My-Remote button is another practical addition: pressing it triggers an audible beep on the ISR-2 or ISR-4, making it easier to recover a misplaced controller.
In terms of design, the ISR-AB pairs a clean, modern look with an LED light ring that changes color to indicate operating status. Blue signals an empty dock, red indicates charging, and green confirms a fully charged remote. The unit supports both hardwired Ethernet and Wi-Fi bridge modes, includes 10/100BaseT connectivity, and offers security via WPA or WPA2 password protection.
The ISR-AB is powered by a +5VDC supply (2.0A) and can also draw power via PoE. The charge time for remotes is approximately 3–4 hours, ensuring that ISR-4 or ISR-2 remotes are topped off quickly. Integration requires RTI’s Integration Designer software version 11.12 or later.
Pete Baker, Director of Residential Control Sales at RTI, noted that the ISR-AB “is the perfect companion to RTI’s ISR-4 or ISR-2 remotes, adding unmatched convenience and elevating the control experience.”
The ISR-AB Advanced Base is available now through RTI distribution channels.
