(February 2, 2021) Roon 1.8 is just days away from launch, poised to introduce new user-friendly features that further enhance the platform's intelligence and personalized nature.

Long-time Roon users will immediately recognize a visual change to the home screen, including a new dashboard that provides insights into listening habits and quick links to expert support. The dashboard aggregates top artist, album, and genre data, viewable for the last week, month, year, and all-time, supplemented by a sortable calendar view of listening habits over the last four weeks. The rest of the Roon experience also features a modern visual boost complete with bold typography, newly designed layouts throughout, and a vertical scroll feature that makes finding your favorite tunes easier than ever.

Roon 1.8 is smarter than ever, possessing the ability to make insightful listening suggestions based on Roon's own metadata and habits of its vast community of users. Unlike past versions, Roon 1.8 unlocks the ability to explore music beyond a user's own library, bringing both Qobuz and TIDAL into the fold. Users can browse and filter their favorite artists, revealing top albums and collaborations… even influences and connections! And a new Discography view makes it easy to see any artist's complete catalog of works.

Classical music fans will appreciate Roon's special attention to the genre complements of a unique layout that enhances both discovery and education. Designed for beginners and advanced listeners alike, Roon 1.8 makes it easy to find pieces by composer, performance, or period. In addition to intelligent recommendations, the software also provides links between albums and composers, and a Focus feature allows users to find the exact performance they're looking for.

"Roon users are expert listeners, which means they mine their favorite subgenres fanatically. The data about that listening, in turn, is what makes Roon's music suggestions feel so human. It's the Roon community that makes these innovations possible." said Roon founder and CEO Enno Vandermeer.

Roon 1.8 is scheduled to go live next Tuesday, February 9. For more information, visit www.roonlabs.com.

Woohoo... :woohoo:

Very excited about the vertical scrolling... I hate the horizontal scroll they have now.

Looking forward to seeing and using the new release.

I thought you’d be excited about this. I can’t wait to check it out, either. It looks like they’ve put a lot of thought into this release. Should be spectacular!

Looks like they are going to make more announcements about the release... perhaps 4 more previews.

Seems like they would have done that over several weeks instead of several days... the 9th will be here in a blink or two, or three.

Yes, customers are receiving a five-part preview leading up to the launch. Perhaps the shortened attention span of the "gotta have it now" world we live in demands a quick rollout!

Any chance Roon Essentials are scheduled for an update?

Have not been told of anything forthcoming, but that doesn’t mean it’s not in the works

Hmmm... lots of unhappy folks with the new release. I've not had a chance to use it yet. Just about scared to test it now that I've read so many are unhappy and it has several bugs.

However... there are many that are absolutely happy with it... so maybe I'll be one of those.

New feature with release 2.0... Roon ARC.

Anyone else tried it? Working for me on Apple devices. I'm thinking it'll be a keeper. I like the idea of having the same features when going mobile. Roon Radio and Roon's daily playlists especially. Have to see if/how the app works on carplay. If it's decent it'll be a bonus.

I have the new Roon 2, on my setup and it is fine...one problem I had was my end table windows 10 android tablet is no longer able to play Roon since upgrading. My other Android tablet still work fine.

I do not listen to Roon outside of my home so I do not use that feature.
