Roku issues already...

Sonnie - did you try the Velox cables with the Roku? If they didn't work for you, I doubt they would for me. How's the Nvidia product working?
Yep... I have the Velox and I have the Audioquest Pearl ... neither worked any better on the Roku to solve its issues. I have the Nvidia Shield, and the first unit I had it had some issues, but I think it was ultimately a bad cable.... and the second unit I have had absolutely zero issues. My handshakes are now much faster and everything works like it should. I don't like the interface as well as I do the Roku... but that is a minor thing, as that is only used to get to whatever app you want to get to... Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc. You could rearrange the apps on the Roku, but on the Shield they are all on one row and I haven't figured out any way to organize them any better. It may be right under my nose and I just haven't seen it yet. And if you use an IR learning remote, which I do (MX-890), then you have to get the Pro to get IR capable remote functions.

I think I'm leaning towards the Chromecast Ultra or waiting for the new Amazon Fire. I don't want the temptation of another gaming machine for my son.

Oh, come now, Steve. Feed the kid what he wants!

After talking with the guys at Metra Home Theater (the Velox cable folks)... they said the Shield was one of the few that they've had the least issues with, but the new Fire TV could be fine as well. Looks like it will have HDR.

Have they set a date for release yet?
