I have it all set up and made a few measurements. Generated graphs w/o any issues. However is there a way to measure the subs only? I have "use subwoofer test signal to chk/set levels" in the preference box. No matter what I only get signal through the fronts. My goal is to use the MiniDSP for the subs and perhaps with the mains too. Help?

Hi Mitch... welcome to AV NIRVANA.

After selecting/clicking on Measure, select #3 on the Output and it should send the sweep thru the sub only.

You will want to make sure your computer is setup for 5.1 or 7.1 so that the HDMI output is in sync with ASIO.

Just a stereo output from the laptop Mitch? For sub only disconnect the mains, or connect an analog output directly to the sub.

Sonnie, output #3 is usually the centre channel on HDMI (counting from 1), #4 is the sub.

Are you using HDMI from your computer to your AVR?

If so, and if you are only showing 2 outputs available, then your computer is likely not configured for the LFE .1 channel. If you go into Playback Devices and select your HDMI output, then Configure, you should be able to change it to 5.1 or 7.1. You may have to restart your computer for it to work.

If you are only using analog, then as John pointed out, you can connect directly to the sub amp.

I stand corrected... sub out is indeed #4.

All this makes sense but after looking in playback devices I don't have any hdmi capabilities because I lacked the correct driver. Wasnt in my win 10 PC either. Installed the drivers and what do you know...got it configured to 7.1. Now I just have to see it I can get the driver installed on the laptop win 7.

...And no. Can't get this laptop with win 7 to formate any surround. REW was reason I bought this old used PC. Think I'll take it back and upgrade with one that has win 10 and an HDMI port rather than a DisplayPort. I really want to see my graphs with 7.1 isolations.

I thought there was a DisplayPort to HDMI converter, but I am not sure that would help with the 7.1 configuration. I was using W7 previously, but both of my laptops now have W10.

Moot point. I took the laptop back and upgraded to one that has a dedicated HDMI port with win 7. Working great now. Hope to post some graphs soon.

Say Sonnie, I just bought two more klipsch RP112's for the rear and want to hook them into the MiniDSP HD 2 x 4. I got the front two subs hooked up just fine and made some very substantial corrections.
So with two sub outs on the Denon 5200X I should be able t run one connection out to the input of the mini (combining the front two) and run the other sub out from the Denon to the second input of the mini, thereby combining the back two. Each output from the mini would go to its respective sub. At that point can I create a file for each sub individually?
Regardless I can't get test signals for the rears. Perhaps the routing block is not configured correctly?

Unfortunately I am not familiar with the 2x4, but miniDSP support is very helpful.

Are you sure you have dual (2) subs setup in your Denon? I am assuming if you had dual subs previously, then you do, but wanted to make sure. If it comes down to the 2x4, then my guess is some sort of configuration issue like you suggest.

As yes... it is at least my understanding that you can create 4 independent files for each sub... however, you really only need distance and level settings for each. When it comes to equalization, you want all 4 subs combined for equalization.

Yes, there are two sub outs on the Denon. So I should just run all four mono and EQ to the MLP? That makes sense, otherwise I guess all subs would be fighting each other in a cage match of EQ. I'll try that and let Audyssey give me some basic time alignments. At that point I should be able to tweek distances, no?
