In EQ, is there any way to fix the equalizer as a MiniDSP, for example, because every time I leave and return to it, it reverts to "Generic".

One has to select both a manufacturer and model of equalizer. If only the manufacturer is selected—without selecting a model— the selection will revert to the last valid manufacturer/model setting when the preferences dialog is closed.

Not quite, I always put in both otherwise one cannot proceed. In Beta 29 it always reverts to generic.

The Preferences allow the default equaliser to be set. That won't affect any measurements already made, the equaliser choice for a measurement is saved with the measurement.

That is a logical location, thanks; it is a steep learning curve for REW/MiniDSP, but my results so-far have been outstanding. With REW, MiniDSP (essential I believe for 2 subwoofers), room treatment (home-made bass traps/acoustic absorbers) I now have for the first time in 50+ years very tight bass, great soundstage and instrument focus. I use triple Quad ESL-63s (L+R+C) and twin JL f112s. REW is a superb product.
