Requesting REW support for Panasonic WZ-DM35

Hello.

I am using Panasonic WZ-DM35, a digital multi processer, as a parametric equalizer.
I planned to use REW, but I found a difference in the definition of the Q factor.

Then, I found the article: "Translating Q to Q – earfluff and eye-candy"
(I don't have permission to post links.)

The situation is the same, so I made a "translator" with Excel using the equation in the article.
I confirmed it's correct using a loopback connection.
While this solution is functional, it is undeniably tedious.

Here is some information I got while I was making the translator:

It allowing10 + 4 filters. Additional 4 filters support HS 6dB and LS 6dB in addition to PK filter.

Frequency
- Minimum: 40 Hz
- Maximum: 18,000 Hz
- Resolution: 1/24 oct (see attached file)

Gain
- Minimum; -15 dB
- Maximum: +15 dB
- Resolution: 0.5 dB

Q
- Values are 0.3, 0.35, 0.41, 0.47, 0.55, 0.64, 0.75, 0.87, 1, 1.2, 1.4, 1.6, 1.9, 2.2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5, 6, 7, 8,4, 10, 12, 14, 16, 19, 22, 25, 30
- (may be) bandwidth = center frequency/(Q/sqrt(10^(abs(gain/20))))

Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Sorry, I'm not getting what you're trying to accomplish and / or what the problem is. The lack of replies after two days suggests others are confused, too.

If you're trying to equalize a system using hardware REW doesn't support, the best method is to use the RTA feature and tweak filters in real time.

Regards,
Wayne

I apologize for any confusion. Currently, REW doesn't support this hardware. However, I'd like to propose native support for the Panasonic WZ-DM35 in the software. A straightforward conversion enables its use in REW's equalizer window. In essence, I'm suggesting adding this model to the equalizer panel. I've reviewed the help page and documented the information I believe is necessary for support.

If such requests are not within REW's scope, I understand.

Thank you.

Apologies for the delayed response. I had already tried the Classic Q option available in the V5.30 beta, but I refrained from using it as it yielded different results from the equipment.

Upon revisiting, I noticed that REW provides correct results when the Gain is positive but not when it's negative. In both cases, the Bandwidth should remain unchanged, which I believe is the intended behavior.

This can be replicated as follows:
  • Select Classic Q, set Gain to +10dB, and Q to 10. When switching to RBJ Q, the Q automatically adjusts to 5.62, which is the correct behavior.
  • Select Classic Q, set Gain to -10dB, and Q to 10. When switching to RBJ Q, the Q automatically adjusts to 17.78. The expected value is 5.62, so this seems to be an incorrect behavior.

I hope this issue can be addressed or that an option supporting this scenario will be made available in the future. Thank you.
