Pro Audio Technology (PRO), a brand that’s typically reserved for high-end residential stereo and home theater installations, has announced the availability of its all-new amplified loudspeaker controller and Configurator software package. Originally revealed at CEDIA 2019, this U1 component carries several unique pieces of technology that make it extraordinarily useful as a centerpiece of any PRO powered audio system.
With eight balanced analog audio inputs and nine speaker outputs, the ALC-3316 Amplified Loudspeaker Controller possesses some 1,800 watts of output for systems ranging from 5.1 to 5.2.2. That power is available across three 300 watt high-current amp channels for subwoofer duty and six 100 watt bridgeable channels for speakers. An onboard 8x8 matrix mixer, mic input, four stereo plus mono-sum inputs, bass and treble controls, and up to 70msecs delay per channel, allow the ALC-3316 to perform in larger outdoor systems where speakers are spaced at atypical distances.
The ALC-3316 leverages a 96kHz /32-bit DSP processing engine (which can be found on all PRO and Theory Audio Design speakers and subs), offering access to 140 IIR filters, 8 FIR filters, intelligent power-limiting, and delay. Additionally, the controller amp can shift low-frequency content from one output to another. This allows smaller speakers to divert bass duties to other larger speakers in systems that lack subwoofers.
Pro Audio Technology is also launching version 1.0 of a user-friendly software interface called Configurator. Designed for both novice and advanced users, Configurator streamlines system deployments by offering preset DSP filters to address boundary loading, perforated video screens, or stretched fabric wall coverings. Advanced settings provide users with 160 parametric EQ filters, input trim, output gain, delay, source routing, bass management, channel naming, along with output controls and a configurable signal generator for setup, diagnosis, and testing.
