Paradigm Drops Six New Subwoofers as Part of Its All-New Defiance Series
(Paradigm) The all new Defiance X and Defiance V subs are shipping now(August 20, 2018) Ontario, Canada’s Paradigm Electronics has unleashed a new stable of sub options with the announcement of its all-new Defiance Subwoofers. Comprised of two different series – the less expensive Defiance V and the pricier Defiance X – Paradigm’s new subs offer quite a bit of tech at competitive price points.
“When bass is properly reproduced, it is the foundation in music and movie soundtracks,” said Keith Dowd, Director of US Sales, Paradigm. “It’s easy to design a subwoofer that makes a lot of noise, but a subwoofer with vanishingly low distortion that sounds as good as a high-performance speaker can only come from a company that knows how to design and build high performance speakers.”
Two of the Defiance V subs (V10 and V12) and the entire Defiance X line ships with onboard Anthem Room Correction (ARC) and functionality with both Paradigm’s Subwoofer Control App (Android/iOS) and optional wireless module. ARC (which is operated using the Control App) offers owners a one-button room correction solution for smoother and more realistically blended bass output – all three Defiance X subs also ship with an external mic that’s compatible with ARC mobile (Android/iOS) and ARC-2 (PC). In addition, the Subwoofer Control App can be used to control volume, low-pass filter settings, phase, room gain, and three preset listening modes.
Design-wise, Paradigm’s Active Ridge Technology (ART) Surrounds are used on all Defiance X subwoofers. These surrounds allow the driver to move more freely, resulting in greater excursion paired a reduction in distortion. In other words: bigger, badder, and deeper bass.

- Defiance X15- $1499, Crafted in Canada, X15 features a 15-inch flush-mounted driver with patented ART™ Surround and 900W (1800W dynamic peak) class-D amplifier in a down-firing ported enclosure. - Defiance X12- $1299, Crafted in Canada, X12 features a 12-inch flush-mounted driver with patented ART™ Surround and 650W (1300W dynamic peak) class-D amplifier in a down-firing ported enclosure. App control and Anthem Room Correction built-in. Inputs include RCA (Left, Right, and LFE), Speaker Level (Left and Right), and optional wireless (Left and Right/LFE). ARC microphone included.
- Defiance X10- $999, Crafted in Canada, X10 features a 10-inch flush-mounted driver with patented ART™ Surround and 300W (600W dynamic peak) class-D amplifier in a down-firing ported enclosure. App control and Anthem Room Correction built-in. Inputs include RCA (Left, Right, and LFE), Speaker Level (Left and Right), and optional wireless (Left and Right/LFE). ARC microphone included.
