I was changing bulbs on the 8000 and to get bulb housing out you have to push a plastic lever back, when I pushed it back it snapped!
What ramifications will this have on the pj?

May end with with a bulb that wants to move when it shouldn't is my guess. I don't even think that is replaceable.

Hmm. Doesn't sound ideal. Can you snap a photo?

I talked to service today and they said that the tab was there so when the p.j. is upside down and you changing bulb once the 2 set screws are removed it does not fall straight down. Not intregal to the p.j.. just have to remember it's not there next bulb change.

Phew! Bullet dodged, it sounds like?

At least you know it won't move around! It's been several years since I helped a friend replace his bulb on that model. I couldn't recall if it locked into place or not. I would think that if there were any gap between the housing and the bulb cage that it might want to slide out of place with all the expansion and contraction from heating/cooling.

Menchman there are 2 set screws that hold the bulb in place.
