Anyone who new me on "that other forum" knows that I have a weakness for things that go 'bang' and have been a collector for years (and Sonnie's gun shop doesn't do anything but feed the addiction too).

I shoot competitively down here in AZ as well as help instruct friends and family when time allows.

If it goes bang there's a good chance I've played with it, but right now my biggest passions are 1911's, CZ 75s and Glocks for utilitarian purposes.CZ 75s in particular are a HUGE weakness (only barely stronger than 1911s).

Latest acquisition is another shield 9mm (I traded my first one away for a Glock 26 deal that was too good to be true) but also just acquired a pair of CZ 75 compacts that were a limited run for CZ (basically they made some specialty combat handguns for a Eurasian police or military force and whoever the client was skipped the bill, so CZ imported them to the U.S. and let us have a crack at them).

basically it's a CZ 75 P-01, except instead of the lightweight aluminum frame it uses their full steel frame, and an extended beavertail instead of the slight rat tail of the P-01... Take out the decocker and put in an ambi safety (great for us lefties, I have right handed only guns) and bingo, you now have what's dubbed the "SP-01 Compact".

so anyone else besides me love the smell of gunpowder in the morning?

Hey hey.... love it! Coffee and gun powder... what a combination!

The CZ's don't seem to be that popular in our area for whatever reasons. There are a few brands like that. Although we did sell a few of the P-07's when we first opened, then it fell off. Very popular in a lot of other areas.

CZ's have a strange but rabid following. CZ doesn't import much to dealers except in bursts (except the P-07 and P-09, which are one of the FEW CZ's I'm not a fan of), and when they DO get one in it's gone in a matter of days. I had a full size CZ 75 Omega convertible in my hand, put it down and came back the next day and haven't seen one for 4 months :(.... I'm not sure their popularity in the lay folk, but out in here in competitions they're the only guns that rival glocks for the amount of target shooters using them in IDPA matches.

soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, I picked up a glock 26 gen 3 to augment my shield that I normally carry. I get it in, clean it up all purdy and start to look for holsters for it. I go to the range this last week and shoot it with the wife (bad idea). At the end of range day we go home, I clean and lube it up and set it on the counter. My wife walks by and says "I really liked this gun, I think I'll keep it". Sticks it in her pocket holster and promptly puts it in her purse. I'm standing there with my jaw hanging to the ground and say "but I just got it!", to which she responds "don't worry, I'll still let you shoot it. Besides, don't you want to make sure I keep approving your gun purchases?".

so now I have to pick up another G26.........uggg, I'm not sure having a wife who appreciates firearms and shoots is a blessing or a curse sometimes.

Well looks like A/V isn't the only things we have in common. Huge gun nut here. Actually have spent more on guns and ammo than equipment for my HT in the last 5 years.

You mentioned the CZ 75 P-01. Absolutely love this pistol. An absolute nail driver along with my 1911. These are my "go to" pistols. The CZ sleeps next to me every night. I have the 9mm and the 40.
You have very good taste sir.

I'm fixing to pick up a FN 5.7. Shot it last weekend and it too is a nail driver. Even though it is a pistol I was amazed at the firepower it brings.

very nice. FN 5.7 is a nice gun. A bit pricey, but still nice.

and yes, the CZ 75 P-01 is amazing. I have the full steel version of the P-01 with ambi safety (it's been dubbed the SP-01 compact as it was a one off model that CZ made and is not party of their regular lineup) and I love it to death. Shoots like a dream. I don't have the aluminum framed P-01 or PCR, but the PCR is probably in my near future. I'm a HUUUUUUUUGE CZ 75 fan, and the only other gun besides my 1911s that I can make one ragged hole with when punching paper

what 1911 do you have? Right now I'm down to two, a Ruger SR1911 commander and the Springfield Loaded full size with night sights. my next 1911 is going to be a Dan Wesson specialist

and don't mention how much I spent on guns and ammo the last few years. My wife might find out how much I REALLY spent !!

IMG_0844.JPG My wife carries a Glock G42 as her CCW and I carry a Springfield Armory XDS 9 mm. We've amassed a nice collection and she loves shooting as much as I do. Here she is at our range.

My favorite of three 1911's is the Springfield Range Officer. Sounds similar to the one you have. Night sights, adjustable trigger. Really sweet pistol to shoot.

ahhh, yes. The Range Officer and the loaded are VERY similar, except the loaded carries combat sights instead of the adjustable rears and has an ambi safety (I'm left handed) which was the reason I snagged it. Otherwise they're nearly identical

nice, I love glocks for ccw weapons. I have most of the .45 and 9mm caliber ones in my stable but haven't gotten a G42 yet .... and interestingly enough I tried the XDS 9mm and just couldn't get used to the grip, it was weird.

All about the grip my friend. The wife had the Bodyguard previously and she didn't care for it. I tried to talk her into a larger caliber but that's what she wanted. The G42 is a nice CCW for her.

I love smith and wesson guns, I have 2 shields, 2 M&P9c's and a host of other ones, but for some reason that bodyguard just didn't do it. for a .380 caliber that I use to stuff in my pants while jogging, I went with the LCP

I like the Shields as well. She has the 9mm as her bedside firearm.

with the price of shields these days I bought a spare shield...because $250 including my FFL transfer fee was just beyond rediculous and too tempting lol

Wow, that is cheap! I don't remember what we paid for hers but I know it wasn't that cheap.

yeah, S&W have a $75 rebate for shields going on through the end of June.... and prices have hit ROCK BOTTOM after the election, most online places are selling them for $299 (ish) shipped and then the rebate on top of that (then of course adding an FFL transfer fee to the cost) and coming in at $250 or less. it's insane.

I actually had two shields already (a 9mm and a.45 one) but I saw the rebate coming a week before it was "officially" announced so I sold my .45 for the same price I paid for it (I got on sale for $50 off so it was pretty easy) and traded another guy who really wanted a 9mm shield for CZ 75 (best trade of my life) and then re bought them one the rebate came back on lol

Personally I am not a big gun guy because I was shot in the back some time ago during a hunting accident (?) but I still own two, one for me and one for my wife.
I bet you can tell which is which. My wife does not have good strength in her arm so she needed something that not only fit her hand but had a lighter slide pull and she found one. Me I like something a bit heavier but nothing esoteric. Oh and not me in the photo

nice, the Walter PK380 .... and is that a Smith and Wesson model 439! (either that or a third gen)... i recognize those old smith and wesson 2nd or 3rd gen autos ...

and ewwwwwww, on being shot in the back. that's never fun.

Walther PPK is on my list. Very smooth gun. Actually don't know many guns I don't like.:)
Went to the range today and put about 1000 rounds down range. Felt pretty good to get out and smell some gun powder.

I need to check out that CZ 75 compact. Where do you carry it and is it comfortable?

I have 2 spots left in my gunsafe and have been wanting for a long time a Springfield M1A. Been in love the first time seeing one. Never shot one though. Anybody own one or shot one? Beautiful looking rifle.

It is a model 5904 Michael, and I love it. I think I would like to obtain more in the future but as with audio, it might take some time. I need a shotgun as the one I had when I got shot broke when I fell on the rr tracks.

All my guns are old except one. Springfield XD 40. Gift from my brother before he died last year.

Here's my latest home made toy!
