Now that my hockey season has ended I figured it was time to tend to some long overdue theater projects. The first project involves getting rid of the "L" shaped sectional that I originally had in my room and replace it with some home theater seating. After researching this on and off for the past few months, I settled on Octane Seating's Bolt XS400. The reason being that my room isn't as wide as most rooms and I cannot accommodate typically sized rows of 4 seats in my theater. The Bolt seats are what they call 'space saver design' seats and are roughly nine inches narrower in width (117.5") than most other designs. I'd been watching the price for these seats drop recently and I finally decided to purchase my two rows of 4 seats off of Amazon.

The seats arrive tomorrow and I'll keep this thread updated as I move along with this project.

The chairs were delivered via ground and took roughly two weeks to get them to my garage. I could have gotten them sooner but I wasn't quite ready for them when I purchased them. The chairs were stacked two high and four per pallet.

I was a tad bit concerned because a couple of the boxes showed some obvious abuse. But upon opening the boxes, the chairs were protected from any damage that occurred to the outside of the box.

The first day was spent unpacking all of the chairs and moving them around. I first staged everything up on the first floor to make sure everything had arrived. I then moved everything down to the basement and put together the first row. The chairs ship without the backs on them so moving them around is fairly easy. And I had no trouble squeezing them through my 29.5" basement door opening. The backs simply slide and then snap into place and that's it!

Riser frame is built. 12” high with one 6” step. Now I have to put in the insulation and cap it.

Sealed and capped. Next will be carpeting and wood trim. Then I can put the seats on it and call it done. Hopefully by Sunday.

Hey Steve - I've also been researching seats. I was close to pulling the trigger on some Palliser Stereo or Audios... also looked at the Octanes (which I think you're going to love). Ultimately, I think I can get the most out of my slightly more narrow room with the Fusion Jive.

It's really tough to choose these things without being able to sit in them!

I did get an opportunity to try out the Palliser Stereos. They were super nice!

I'll be updating this tomorrow! I've got pictures of the shipped chairs and of the first row. Second row is going to have to wait for me to build a riser.

I hear you on the 'buying blind' Todd. I did get to try a different model Octane seat at a local BB Magnolia store. They're a very comfortable seat! I had to go with this model though in order to fit two rows of four seats. The width of the rows is 117.5" which is fairly narrow by home theater seating standards. They sure don't seem narrow though.

Gotta run right now, as I said, I'll have more tomorrow.

Post #2 updated with pics of the first row of seats. I am very pleased with this purchase so far! Post number 3 will cover the construction of my riser and placement of the second row of seats. This may take a couple weeks as I need to figure out how far I can push the numbers on the height. I don't have a high ceiling in my basement and I don't need anyone hitting their heads!

Ive been using the Octane seating in my theater room for about a year now and love them. They are very comfortable and the power recline still works flawlessly.

I went with the manual recline Tony. When I was making the purchase I just didn't want to go out on a limb and get the power reclines. I've replaced enough cables to know how easy it is to repair the manual recline option.

These exact seats have been on my list for over a year now. Visited another local theater with the exact dimensions of my room and couldn't believe how spacious it felt compared to mine, and chalked it up to the Octane seating and its non-overstuffed, non-oversized form factor. Comfortable, but sleek.

Oh for sure, Ive got those exact ones for the back row and they also are very comfortable. I only got 3 power recline's on the front row.

Hope this isn’t going to be an issue cause everything is sealed up now, but... ok if I didn’t put insulation in my step? The rest of the riser is insulated.

Nope, as long as its glued and screwed so it does not vibrate that wont matter at all.

Got the carpeting done on the riser today and I put together the second row. This project is pretty much finished.
