Jihad is in no way senseless. The purpose of Jihad is to establish Sharia. We in the West consider it senseless because it appears that way to us. But that's a reflection of our inability to put ourselves in the position of those whose beliefs differ markedly from ours.

Belief is not only relevant, but essential to explaining these events. These events occur precisely because of the beliefs of the perpetrators. Jihadists believe that non-believers in Islam should be killed. Therefore these are not random acts of senseless violence, but specific acts, engaged in for a specific purpose. Dismissing them as random acts of senseless violence is dangerous, because doing so has the potential of disabling our ability to understand, and thus counter, the ideology causing the violence.

They believe that they are acting on behalf of Allah. How is this possible? One way of looking at it involves the examination of the Arabic word "fitra", which means, "the natural predisposition of mankind". In the jihadist ideology, shari'a is fitra. That is, imposing shari'a upon all mankind is simply a way of restoring mankind to the state to which it is naturally predisposed in the first place. In jihadist ideology, jihad has benefit even for those non-believers who are killed while opposing it. How can this be? It is because, according to them, Allah's punishment of these non-believers will be less if they die young than if they were to die at an old age while opposing Islam their entire life. These jihadists view themselves as taking part in an epic struggle between good and evil, and they view themselves as the good guys.

The significance of this cannot, and must not be understated. If we fail to understand what we're dealing with, we will fail in defeating it.

Today, another mass shooting in Texas at a church. Very sad. Prayers to all the victims. The Shooter was a white Male.

In terms of mass shootings, statistically, in the U.S., mass shootings have been mostly undertaken by white men..

Regardless of race, religion, creed, color, etc., if you have an evil mind, you will do evil things. Period.

Again, regardless of the shooter's stats, an evil person will do evil acts.

Did they release any info on possible motive? I had the news on most of the day but it was just the typical news media talking in circles as there had not been a media conference from law enforcement yet.

Nothing concrete so far.

Lot of news speculation in regards to him being a member of "Antifa" but not really sure on that..see link here from newsweek.

Air Force spokesperson Ann Stefanek said in a statement that Kelley is a former U.S. Air Force member who served from 2010 to 2014. Records confirm Kelley previously served in logistics readiness in New Mexico until his discharge in 2014, Stefanek said. Kelley was court-martialed in 2012 for two counts of assault on his spouse and assault on their child, Stefanek said. He received a bad conduct discharge and confinement for 12 months."

Guess more will come out once things settle down.
