While running REW ver 5.19 with an EMU E-DSP Wave [1000] soundcard on an XP system I get no sound from the MiniDSP UMIK-1 mic which is plugged into one of the computer's USB jacks. The REW preferences does see the calibration file for the mic, and the REW generator does play test signals through its software mixer to the line outs of the soundcard. However there is no mic sound at any inputs on the software EMU mixer and none at the REW spl meter. The blue power light is lit on the MiniDSP UMIK-1 mic. I also have a Mac protools system that I could test the mic on, but I haven't downloaded a Mac version of REW to that system yet. Any ideas of why I get no sound from the mic on the XP system? Does the USB socket have to be on the sound card itself, not on the computer motherboard?

Presumably you have selected the UMIK as the input in REW? Does the mic work in any other audio application? If not, likely an issue between the USB port and the mic. Use a short USB cable if you aren't doing that already.

Removed the USB extension cable, and double checked the selection is correct for UMIK input in REW, but still no signal from the mic. REW had found the mic's response file though when I first pluged it in. . Plugged it into various USB ports on the computer but no sound. Should it be using a USB port on the sundcard itself? This ten year old EMU sound card does not have a USB port. I'll see if my MAC protools system can see it. I may have to load a MAC version of REW into it to find out. Again, the test signals from the generator do successfully come out the line outs of the soundcard, just no mic.I'll check it on the MAC tomorrow.

Ok. I'll try that. Thanks.
