No distinction between channels

I have a umik-1, a new Dell Windows 11 laptop and a Denon X2700h. I have all the drivers and settings set and cables plugged in, but then I go to check the channels, I can't get discrete speaker test tones. 0 and 1 work okay as L and R, but after that, all the other channels are all the speakers at once but still favoring the front L/R.

I have a 5.2.2 system and just wanted to calibrate my subs, but can't get past setup.

That must be a receiver mode setting, the receiver may need to use a specific mode to accept multi-channel linear PCM over HDMI.

To add to John’s comment, it looks like the sound mode should be “Direct”

I'll try that. I thought I did choose Direct when I was playing around with it, but I will try again, thank you.
