I am a retired loudspeaker engineer (retired 15 years ago). My goto measurement system was DRA MLSSA. Moving into the 21st century with REW. My setup is an ACER laptop, MiniDSP UMIK-1, a Crown 5507 power amp driving a 6" 2-way of my own design. When attempting a sine sweep test (20Hz~20kHz) the stimulus is heavily polluted with random pops and clicks, similar to a poor connection. Surprisingly, the resultant response curve looks quite normal! I substitute a function generator and the sound is clear. This only occurs when the computer is the source. Where am I going wrong? BTW: this is a nearly new laptop computer running Windows 11.

What REW driver setting are you using? Best option is usually Java WASAPI Exclusive (device names starting EXCL).

Thank you John! The preferences were set to JAVA but the input/output devices were set to "defaukt device". I changed them to WASAPI (EXCL) a suggested and now the problem is solved! Thanks again!
