Hi, I got a Behringer ECM8000 mic years ago and never used it so I thought I would take a measurement with REW in my home studio.
I installed the last versions of Java and REW, I set up the mic up through a Motu M4 interface and I followed the 'How to Use Room EQ Wizard part 1' video tutorial.
Every step went ok until I started taking measurements, they all look like this:

Am I missing something? Do I need to change settings?

My measurement settings are over here:

BTW: to rule out a problem with the ECM8000 / setup, I did an audio recording in my DAW and it sounds fine.

Input level looks high on that Measure dialog, unless you have very high background noise. Did you make a loopback measurement of the interface? Might have monitoring active.

Hi, thanks John. I measured the SPL at 75 dB and turned up on the gain on the Motu until the low input signal message disappeared. It still wasn't clipping though.
And yes, I followed all steps, so also the loopback measurement.

Edit: and monitoring is off.

There is something very wrong with the mic cal file, if you remove that you get a normal measurement. You could attach that file, but they are generally not worth using for ECM8000 as the mics can vary quite a lot.

Aha, I got it from the Behringer site and the thought came to mind, I'll remove it and will try again.

In other words: get a better mic? ;-)

No, the mic is OK, but a generic cal file risks doing as much harm as good.
Aha, OK, thanks.

This looks a lot better:

Looks like I have 2 big peaks at 45 Hz (that'll be the sub) and at 125 Hz and a small 'hill' around 380 Hz.
Not as bad as could be, I guess.
