With price increases looming and after over one year of research I finally ordered an SVS Ultra center channel to replace my Elac Debut 5.2 center. Old ears & damaged hearing makes dialogue clarity a problem for me on HT. I've gone from TV speakers to HTiB to Elac Debut 2.0 on speakers and have gotten small incremental improvements from each step but still rely on closed captions for movies. The Ultra center is "edgier" than the "laid back" Elac and if the Elac is a 6-7 for dialogue then the SVS may be a 8-9 which could be a more significant change that I expected (hoped ?). I haven't run YPAO or messed with setup as yet but I did back down the cc volume emphasis from 4 dB to 1 dB over the L/R speakers (Elac Debut 2.0). So far, so good.

Congrats on the new center Coy. I had that same center in my room at one time and it did a fine job as far as I can remember. As a matter of fact... that entire Ultra system I had was one of the best systems I have had in my room.

Nice post Coy! Makes me want to update my center channel as well. I have a Vienna Acoustics Theatro but would love to get crisper dialogue and clarity. I use the cc for almost all of my movies. Anyone got suggestions for something that would go with my Vienna Acoustics Hayden w/Sunfire dipole sides & sub system? Thanks! Oh, and it would need to have a relatively flat profile to be hung on the wall underneath my flatscreen.
