Netflix increasing pricing plans

"Beginning Wednesday, Netflix said its Basic and Premium plans will now cost $11.99 and $22.99, respectively, in the US. That's up from the prior $9.99 and $19.99 price points. Netflix’s $6.99 ad-supported plan and $15.49 Standard plan will stay the same price."

Regardless, number of users have increased!

Netflix added 8.8 million new subscribers in the quarter, handily beating expectations of 6.2 million. The company said the higher-than-expected growth was "due to the roll out of paid sharing, strong, steady programming and the ongoing expansion of streaming globally." The company had added just 2.41 million paying users in Q3 2022.

Netflix said it expects fourth quarter subscriber net additions "to be similar" to the third quarter's results.

Will the price increase change your viewing options? Essentially, do you still plan to continue to subscribe?

I am sure there is a strong correlation here between the 82-day SAG-AFTRA strike as well as this announcement!

I always forget we have Netflix because they don't allow their content to populate into the AppleTV's TV app. That's our go-to dashboard for what shows have new episodes. I've never paid much attention to the Netflix movie catalog.

These price increases are a good reminder to cancel the service until there's something we want to watch. I cancelled it until Stranger Things drops the new season.

Hmmm. For movies Netflix stinks, but I really enjoy their docu-series. Just finished up the one about David Beckham. Fantastic.

I think I'll be sticking with them despite the increase

Netflix has excellent documentaries.. I also agree, that is worth it for the service.

Once I discovered that shows can be added to your watchlist even without a paid subscription I started doing just that. Once there’s a healthy dose of good shows saved up I reactivate the subscription for a month. Last time I actually cancelled the subscription the same day the credit card was charged so I wouldn’t forget.
I don’t mind the prices if it’s getting used.

What does “roll out of paid sharing” mean? Does it mean a crackdown on unpaid sharing of accounts? Any growth from this will probably be short lived if that’s the case.
