They just bough this house and I would liek to set them up with an ht/stereo system. I have a Yamaha RX-V1075 to give them but the room appears problematic. Here are the pics of the room

I'm thinking about putting the stand centered on the window wall with an L section couch where the longest part of the L section faces the window and the short side facing the fireplace. I am asking for your opinions on my idea. Please be honest.

Its a difficult room to work with because of that fire place being stuck where it is. If the dam FP could have been shifted by 3ft over towards the right, it would easily work... The 2nd pic is me sitting on the left side of the love seat.

Yup. Fireplace in the corner would have been much easier to work with.

TV over the FP looks as though it will be uncomfortable to watch. At least so far as one can tell from the photos. With stone floor to ceiling I’m guessing it would be hard to run wire and have it look presentable in that scenario, anyway.

TV under the window would seem to be the only other option. I’ll wager you’ve already considered the right speaker’s tweeter and midrange (woofer if a 2-way) will need to be above any part of a sofa that would otherwise bock the sound, for stereo imaging or phantom center.

I can't see the wall by the door. But is there a way to place the couch by the wall where the little window is and the tv on the opposite wall straight ahead, provided you have room around that door?

Yeah, not knowing what that fourth wall holds, I would say your plan to put the TV under the window is probably the best one. Is there a speaker count that they are eventually going to work towards?

The fourth wall goes way back to a hallway. There a couple of more doors going down the hallway on the same side as the one pictured. I told my daughter and her b/f how the room could be arranged my setting up the system centered on the window wall. Move the sofa facing the window all and leave the recliner center by the fireplace. Its not an ideal set up but its doable.

Considering what you are working with, I think you've come up with the best solution. It'll work just fine! You could even "hide" surround speakers with that setup as well. Surround left just to the left of the fireplace and surround right in that corner to the right of the love seat and left of the recliner.

I agree, TV under the window, that should look pretty nice after it's done, thanks for sharing, don't forget to show some after pictures :)

This will be a 2 year project as they are slow to adopt. I will post pics as soon as I make progress on this.
