Morning rant...

I really love my job. But there must be lots of people who love theirs more, considering how much of a hurry they are in to get to work. Some of them need a lesson in physics. To the guy who has to drive within a half car length of my bumper (when I am already going 45 in a 35), drafting doesn't have the same effect at 45 as 190mph. In fact it has a different effect. Rather than decreasing the pressure in front of your car, it decreases the pressure of my foot on the accelerator. In fact, if you keep it up long enough there is magnetic effect on my foot from the brake pedal.

Perhaps I am grumpy this morning. I'll blame it on McDonald's, aka Morons-R-Us, where ordering coffee seems to get translated automatically to coffee with cream, or whatever the white stuff is in the mix. Most people eat ketchup on their fries, too, but do the serve ketchup automatically on the fries? Note to self, on the rare occasion when I stop there to get coffee in the morning, be sure to say "no cream".

:coffee: You know how to fix that right? Speed up to 190!

We can test it on the way to Chicago... :gulp:

Yep... I get the train started myself quite a bit. Sounds like we'll have a better chance of making it there and back in one piece and breathing!

Actually, since this is a soap box thread, my driving is more about keeping distance from other vehicles. If I have to drive above or below the speed limit, depending on the other traffic, I do, but mostly try to keep my distance. Speed is not the cause of most accidents. Not paying attention and proximity are.

Leonard, you mean you dont like "desert in a cup" in the morning :coffee:
Try driving a motorcycle in traffic where somehow you are invisible to the guy that just passed you and cuts you off :explode:

I drive alot, my job forces me to be available from Chicago to Alabama and Mississippi, from Cleveland to Missouri and like Leonard, I drive pretty careful and even set the alarm to make sure I do not get too close to the car in front of me, although I do usually drive 5mph over the limit. Once most folks get in their cars anymore, it is like they turn off the outside world and do as they like irrespective of anyone about them. This can be particular at drive through food joints where they can order enough food to feed a zoo while not worrying about those behind them....and then the quality of the food....oh no thats another matter.....

I did that in my younger days. It lasted until some old lady pulled out in front of me in the rain and I had to lay it down...

And no, I prefer to get my jolt from the caffeine, not sugar. One or two small sugars in a cup is plenty. My son left his vanilla latte in the car this morning and I decided to try it. Tasted like drinking candy. Too much sweet for this bitter old guy.

Here's a pet peeve: people who walk on the left. HEllloooooo... this Murcuh. We drive on the right here. Why on earth do you people insist on passing through the left-hand door of a supermarket entrance, or walking down the left part of a sidewalk? That many people can't be wrong, so when did this change? I've even noticed stores with clearly marked entrances/exits in reverse!! Whassup wit dat? Political correctness to give "lefties" equal exposure? My goodness. I don't care how they're marked. I'm a free Murcan, and I'll walk where I please - the right side!

Got you there, your right (snicker) about people on the wrong side. It annoys me also.

This has always been a head scratcher for me, too. Especially on crowded city sidewalks and airports! It can definitely drive a person crazy!

I was taught to walk on the left when there was no sidewalk so that you could see cars coming. Maybe they want to see who is coming and greet them face to face.

It depends on the time of day. Pre-coffee or after a rough day at work it might just be sarcasm.
