Hey everyone,

I’m planning to get a Presonus PRM1 to use with REW for measuring my room’s acoustics. It’s a small home production room, and I want to do some acoustic treatment based on the results.
The problem is, I don’t have many options where I live — the PRM1 is basically the only reference mic I can find. My other option would be to buy a regular condenser mic like RODE NT1, which costs almost about the same. So I’ve got two questions:

A. Do I need a calibration file for the PRM1? I couldn’t find one on the Presonus website.

B. Since the NT1 could also be used for vocals and other recordings, is the PRM1 really that much better for measurements to make it worth buying just for that purpose?

Thanks,
Houtan.

Why not just get a miniDSP UMIK-1? Much cheaper than the Presonus and it comes with a calibration file.

Regards,
Wayne

Dayton Audio EMM-6, miniDSP UMIK-1 or UMIK-2... Don't make it any harder than it needs to be...
Oh, and get a real professional mic stand... Don't use those little things that come with the mic kits...
