At the center of the launch is the AV 30, an 11.4-channel AV preamplifier that supports layouts up to 7.4.4. The “.4” is worth pausing on, because this is not a shared subwoofer output arrangement. The AV 30 provides four fully independent subwoofer channels, each with its own output and calibration control. Just as important, every single channel output on the rear panel is available on balanced XLR connections, alongside RCA, making the AV 30 well-suited for longer cable runs and noise-sensitive installations.
Processing duties are handled by a dual-core Analog Devices SHARC DSP platform paired with 32-bit DACs. The AV 30 supports Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, IMAX Enhanced, and Auro-3D, with Auro remaining a notable inclusion for its upmixing capabilities, which many enthusiasts still consider among the most natural in the industry. Room correction options include Audyssey MultEQ XT32 out of the box, with optional upgrades for Dirac Live, Dirac Bass Control, and Dirac Active Room Treatment, allowing the processor to scale from straightforward setups to more advanced multi-sub and full-room optimization scenarios.
Video connectivity presents seven HDMI inputs supporting up to 8K at 60Hz and 4K at 120Hz, with three HDMI outputs available for main and zone use. For music listeners, the AV 30 includes HEOS built-in, along with support for Roon, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, and a broad range of high-resolution file formats.
Physically, the AV 30 looks exactly like a modern Marantz should. A familiar porthole display remains front and center, paired with a clean fascia and a fold-down front panel that hides less-used controls. A new touch is the selectable side illumination built into the front faceplate, which gives the unit a more contemporary look without drifting into novelty. It is subtle, optional, and adds a little more visual flair to an already exciting physical package.
The AMP 30 is where the system’s modular intent becomes more apparent. This is a six-channel power amplifier rated at 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms, designed in a slimline chassis that takes up significantly less vertical space than traditional multi-channel amplifiers. Each pair of channels can be bridged, allowing the AMP 30 to deliver up to three channels of 400 watts if needed, or to bi-amp speakers in smaller systems. Both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs are provided, making it easy to integrate with a wide range of gear.
One of the more distinctive elements of the AMP 30 is its front-panel presentation. The iconic Marantz porthole is retained, but here it houses an analog power meter that displays real-time output. Like the AV 30, the amplifier also features selectable side illumination, reinforcing visual cohesion when the two units are stacked.
From a system planning perspective, the AV 30 and AMP 30 are designed to work together, but they are not locked to one another. A single AMP 30 can power a modest system today, while leaving room to expand later with additional amplifiers. At the other end of the spectrum, two AMP 30 units can be paired with the AV 30 to drive a full 11.4-channel system while still occupying roughly the same rack space as a traditional processor and large multi-channel amplifier. Marantz also positions the AMP 30 as a complement to existing Cinema Series AVRs or higher-channel-count amplifiers such as the AMP 20 and AMP 10.
Both the AV 30 and AMP 30 are designed and manufactured at Marantz’s Shirakawa Audio Works facility in Japan. Pricing is set at $4,000 for the AV 30 and $4,000 for the AMP 30, with availability beginning this month through select Marantz retailers. Additional information is available at marantz.com.
