(May 21, 2026) Magnetar’s MKII media players just picked up a feature that will likely make two-channel music fans smile. The company has announced that its UDP800MKII and flagship UDP900MKII universal media players are now Roon Ready certified, adding deeper integration with one of the most widely respected music management and streaming ecosystems in the hi-fi world.

If you’re unfamiliar with Roon, think of it as part music library manager, part streaming hub, and part obsessive audiophile control center. It pulls together local music files, streaming services, metadata, artist information, multiroom playback, and high-resolution audio management into a single interface that many enthusiasts treat as the digital glue holding their systems together. And importantly, “Roon Ready” isn’t just marketing fluff slapped onto a spec sheet. It means Magnetar's players have completed certification testing for network discovery validation, stress testing, playback verification, interoperability checks, and real-world performance evaluations.

For Magnetar owners, the addition expands what are already highly flexible machines. Both were originally designed as refined updates to Magnetar’s universal player lineup, combining disc playback support for formats like 4K UHD Blu-ray, SACD, Blu-ray, and CD with upgraded internal engineering and audio performance enhancements. Now, with Roon Ready certification onboard, the players gain tighter integration into networked audio environments through Roon’s RAAT protocol. That means support for high-resolution PCM playback, DSD playback, multichannel audio streaming, automatic device discovery, and synchronized communication within larger Roon ecosystems.

The Magnetar UDP800MKII and UDP900MKII are now available directly from Magnetar North America and authorized dealers.
