My recommendation is the Acurus Muse, pricy it may be, but the sound is excellent, set up so quick and simple you just think, er have I missed something ? it is fully 4K HRD HDCP 2.2 etc... the ACT4 very nice, but more expensive, same audio path, I'm told by the distributor in Muse as ACT4 , so should like it would suit you well.
I have no affiliation with Acurus by the way, I install a lot of cinemas and am always looking for the best sound from the audio side. And as you say best way to correct a room is to correct the room !

Apologies for late response, did not notice any notification. However, that is precisely what I look for except that 16 channels is overkill for my 7 channel setup. Odd that Acurus does not make a more modest model, since they are on the right track with the Muse.

Well its not a big box, so its not a big deal having inputs and outputs you don't use. The cost of a product is in its design mainly, so it has to work for most users. I only use 2 sources these days, but the rest of the family only use Apple TV. Have fun with your cinema !

I would recommend the Denon AVR-X3700H. Manual setup is simple. It has pre-outs and you can turn off the amp section for better SNR. It is super easy to setup and can be controlled via an app on the phone or tablet. Its DAC section measures about the highest output quality of any processor on the market.

What kind of price range are we talking?
