Kaleidescape Joins AV NIRVANA Live: Thursday, July 2nd at 7 PM Eastern!

(June 26, 2026) AV NIRVANA is excited to announce another special live stream event, this time welcoming Kaleidescape's Andre Floyd for an in-depth look at one of the company's biggest product introductions in years.

Todd great job with Kaleidescape. Lots of good info shared. Thanks for getting my question about filmmaker mode answered.
Since the Strato Players output a filmmaker flag, if you have a JVC Laser Projector and you have your JVC Projector filmmaker mode set to automatic it will override the JVC tone mapping mode and switch the JVC to Filmmaker mode which I don't want to happen. To prevent this from happening since you can't disable filmmaker flag in Kaleidescape you will need to go into settings of JVC Projector and set filmmaker mode to manual from automatic.

None of my other video sources output filmmaker flag so I never changed the setting in my JVC until I added a Strato Player.

Filmmaker automatically disables frame adapt?

If you keep the filmmaker setting on automatic the JVC will override your frame adapt preference when it sees the filmmaker flag incoming from your source.
If you keep the filmmaker setting on manual the JVC will see the filmmaker flag but not act on it and frame adapt stays in play.

I don't use Kaleidescape with a flat panel TV so I don't know how it would react and what settings are available on flat panel TV's.

So you’re thinking disc encodes and Kaleidescape encodes are the same? That would mean the source for cutting out bass extension in some release versions is the studio’s doing as opposed to distribution.
That would be a shame for all the infrasonic capable home theaters out there.
