(August 7, 2025) JTR Speakers has long built its reputation on performance-first engineering, pushing the limits of dynamics and clarity in serious home theater environments. At Audio Advice Live 2025, the company’s founder and mastermind, Jeff Permanian, pulled back the curtain on a bold new chapter: the Kallos speaker line. This sleek and purposeful system signals a shift in form factor and aesthetic appeal, but make no mistake, JTR's sonic signature remains firmly intact.
The Kallos series includes two high-performance passive loudspeakers and a matching active subwoofer. Anchoring the lineup are the Kallos 265 and the larger Kallos 465, both premium two-way loudspeakers. While their vertical profiles and clean baffle designs suggest minimalist intentions, there's serious muscle under the hood. Each speaker features a rotatable 90x60 horn tweeter that is loaded down to 1,500 Hz, allowing for wide, even dispersion and smooth integration. Internally, both models use high-grade crossover components, including Perfect Lay inductors and metallized polypropylene capacitors.
The cabinets, constructed from stacked Baltic Birch, are sculpted for strength and sonic integrity. This layered approach minimizes enclosure resonance and offers a high-end look that feels both industrial and luxurious. Magnetic grilles keep the face clean while offering flexibility for display or discretion.
In terms of performance, the Kallos 265 is rated at 94 dB of sensitivity with a maximum output of 120 dB. The Kallos 465 ups those figures to 97 decibels and 123 decibels, respectively, while doubling power handling at 800 watts. Both designs deliver a frequency response from 80 hertz to 23kHz, making them ideal candidates for integration with a subwoofer, which brings us to the other member of the Kallos line. Built with the same visual design language and shallow cabinet depth of approximately 12", the Kallos Sub houses a high-output 12" driver mated to a 2,000-watt amplifier. It's compact and powerful, providing low-end energy that hits hard without bloating the overall soundstage.
JTR’s presence at Audio Advice Live gave attendees a close look at the system’s integration potential and its ability to bring full-range sound into a sleek and manageable form.
