The original 3000 Micro built a reputation as a bit of a physics-defying box, thanks to its small footprint and surprising output. But this new version is billed as a full rethink of what a micro subwoofer can actually do.
Let’s start with the obvious challenge. Small subs are convenient, but they usually come with trade-offs. Limited output, less control, and expectation that real-world performance will strike the old “one-note” bass that tends to show up when things get pushed. SVS is clearly taking aim at all of that here.
Inside the 3000 Micro are dual opposed active 9" drivers, firing in opposite directions to cancel out mechanical forces. In plain terms, that means the cabinet stays put instead of vibrating all over the place, which helps keep bass tight and controlled. It’s a design approach we’ve seen in larger subs, but squeezing it into an enclosure that’s just about 11" on each side is impressive and entirely fun.
Power is also getting a bump. The new amplifier delivers 1,200 watts continuous and more than 4,000 watts on peaks, which is a big step up from the original Micro. That power is paired with a 295 MHz DSP engine, which, says SVS, should make the Micro behave like a much larger subwoofer, both in output and in handling low frequencies.
Extension is rated down to 20 Hz, which, for something this size, seems borderline absurd. And control and tuning are handled through the SVS app, which gives you access to parametric EQ, room gain compensation, phase, and presets. There’s also an auto room EQ feature on the way, expected in a future update, which should make dialing things in even easier, depending on your space.
Connectivity covers both RCA and balanced XLR, which is a nice touch for a sub in this category, opening the door to use in everything from traditional home theater systems to more serious two-channel setups.
What’s particularly interesting about this release is how it rounds out the 3000 Series refresh. You’ve got larger options in the lineup if you want sheer output and room pressurization, and then you have Micro. It's a different kind of approach for apartments, shared living spaces, and 2-channel systems looking for something diminutive yet high-energy.
The SVS 3000 Micro R|Evolution debuted at AXPONA 2026, with availability through SVS and authorized dealers to follow. It can be ordered in Black, now, with White currently in pre-order status and expected to begin shipping on April 30.
