This particular one is for review images, but slice off the bottom part that reads REVIEW and it will be our watermark for all other images.

Please vote for the one you like the best.

Thanks!

The white one stands out much better, but maybe it could be a little smaller?

We need more votes. 50-50 does not help with decision making.

My vote was for the blue because it does not stand out as much and I find watermarks annoying. They are a necessary evil, but I don't want them distracting from the image that I want to look at from a user perspective.

In this thread setting I like the blue... but when I go to the homepage and see the Giveaway watermark up in the left corner, I like the white because it stands out to the eye.

Perhaps... Blue for reviews...and keep the white for Giveaways because it draws attention?

Good idea, Todd. I may be a bit sensitive about distactions in reviews. That is why we discuss and ask for input.

How/when is the watermark applied? Is it something that can be chosen at will?

I like the darker version myself, but under certain conditions it will fade into the picture. Of course the same holds true for the white background on a lighter image, but in general I like the dark version.

I agree with Todd. I do prefer the blue color but like seeing both as an option. I like seeing the watermark when it can blend in a bit and with other pictures I would like to see it stand out. So both are my choice but for this poll I will chose the blue one.

I think most people will like the blue on better. I bet that is why most companies go with blue lights on the equipment.

I had not voted until now, but I think Todd has a good point. White on the giveaways because we want it to standout more, but on other images like news and reviews, probably the blue will work better. They both look good.

Can you make it transparent and do away with the background color all together?
I know we can make the full image transparent, but when I did this, it did not look good at all... just a washed out look. However, making the background transparent might be an idea. Let me try that in my photoshop and see how it turns out. The lettering has drop shadows (and we did not do the logo ourselves - so can't remove it), so that might be an issue with the transparent background, but we'll see.

Hmmm... if we knew what the background was going to be each time... on darker backgrounds the transparency works well... but on white backgrounds it doesn't.

If you embed an image from the gallery or if you insert an attachment (whether the attachment is copy and paste or uploaded from file). We are still working on the attachment watermark.

You shouldn't have to ever manually apply it unless it's for a giveaway... then we would use the white version if it's for a darker background... probably use the blue if it's on a light background. For giveaway banners on the front page we will likely use whichever one stands out the most with the particular banner image.

I voted for white, but I like the transparent background version MUCH better. It needs a little cleanup, which is more evident in the white image, but I think it looks a lot more professional.

@Sonnie who is doing the graphics work? I'm not a pro, but I'm sure I could whip up a high quality vector image of the logo that would be fully scale-able for you if you like.

This was just a couple minutes fiddling in Inkscape, but if you're interested, just let me know and I can use your correct font and RGB/CMYK colours.

We hired a guy thru a graphics design company to create our logo.

We decided to use the solid logo (you can see it on our equipment review images) because we never know what the background color will be. And the watermark is not something you can make a choice with... it's set once we pick the image. It's working out pretty well as we have it now.

OK, good to know. i hadn't actually noticed the watermark on any images yet and I stumbled into this thread a bit late. Lol.

They only show up on images from the GALLERY. We use to have them show up on all images everywhere, but that was a different program and would not resize the watermark appropriately and broke some other things.
