This is with a Denon AVR X3600, and 3 SVS PB-1000 subs. I wanted to get a baseline. I haven't purchased a miniDSP yet. Just experimenting at this point. Audyssey was off. speaker crossovers way up at 250hz. This isn't what I expected. This must be why stereo music sounds so bad. I'm actually pretty happy with Audyssey on watching movies. What did I do wrong? Thanks!

It is impossible to tell—from the image posted—exactly what you are measuring. Attaching the .mdat of your measurements would be be much better.

Something from your equipment cuts the signal by about 80 Hz. Do you have three SVS PB-1000s? They are not on the chart. If you hear frequencies below 80 Hz, then you need to check the measurement settings. The microphone calibration file is also used as a sound card calibration file. If you have not calibrated your sound card, it is best to leave this field blank.

You have put the UMIK cal file in the mic cal and the soundcard cal entries so it is being applied twice, delete it from the soundcard cal. Your PC may be applying noise rejection processing to the UMIK input, go to the Advanced tab of the Windows audio properties for the UMIK (System - Sound - Related Settings on right hand side - Sound Control Panel - Recording - select UMIK, click Properties button) and make sure enhancements are not enabled.

I did read that somewhere about unchecking sound enhancements, but that option isn't available under the umik properties, only the internal mike. I'll delete that extra soundcard file and see what happens!

The cal file has only a minor effect. Your output is the R channel, so redirection to the sub will depend on processor settings. Make sure the mode is correct to apply redirection.

Could you give me a hint to what the correct mode may be? :) I'm guessing that where be my problem lies.

Afraid not, try the options and see what works. Make sure the front speakers are set to small, of course, and that it is the bass management crossover frequency you have raised and not the LFE low pass.

Is there a way to get "live" spl vs frequency readings while watching a movie? I'm pretty sure I am getting a better response than this graph indicates.

I've emailed this graph to both Denon and SVS, hoping for some feedback.

Got it! I knew my ears weren't deceiving me. The computer wasn't set up to read properly. I unchecked audio enhancements to the receiver ( it wasn't visible under the umik properties), Updated the umik driver, and found another Intel Array Mic driver that I disabled, 1 or all of those helped. I still have some work to do (minidsp?), but at least I know my system is functioning right.
