Hi everyone, my name's Anthony and I've spent the past 10 years in Vegas after being born and raised in NY. I've been using REW for a few years to eq my system. I've been getting into phase alignment and timing, and watching videos by Obsessive Compulsive Audiophile on youtube. I do have a home theater system but I'm mostly here for the 2 channel stuff. I mostly listen to classic rock but will listen to anything and everything depending on my mood. My favorite artists include Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Stone Temple Pilots, Buddy Guy, B.B. King to name a few. The first concert I ever saw was Iron Maiden in 1988. I still love them btw! I was classically trained on piano and played for 14 years (my favorite composer is Bach), then transitioned to guitar. Sadly I almost never have the time to play anymore.

Hi Anthony, welcome!

Welcome Anthony!

Sometimes I have to watch his videos a few times before I catch on, lol. Always worth the time, though.

Glad to have you with us Anthony. Love Pink Floyd... my favorite!

I see you use Roon... not sure how I'd live without it.

Welcome Anthony! You have FANTASTIC taste in music!

Welcome Anthony. Your music appreciation aligns with mine. :)

Welcome Anthony. I am two channel guy myself; guess I could be called a lot worse I purchased a MiniDSP FLEX and have been working with REW to optimize my listening position. Why videos did you find particularly informative? Do you use RePhase?

I was considering purchasing a minidsp Flex HT-X to use when I got my second sub. That is, until minidsp accidentally told me I could combine both L&R inputs into one output and then split it before it gets to the sub and have little or no loss in quality. I still may do it down the line do play around with Dirac but so far I've found Dirac's results less than what I achieve with OCA when it comes to 2 channel listening. For me, both his speaker correction workshops and the speaker phase correction video are the ones I refer to most often. Once I get my 2nd sub, I'll be adding his video on multiple subwoofer alignment to that list. I absolutely do use RePhase. It's fantastic. It makes a difference in soundstage and clarity. It's not night and day but it's noticeable. Just make sure you're not trying to correct minimum phase. Regarding eq, I use his settings as a guideline then tailor them to my taste. Well at least I used to. Now all I do is even out the bass between 30-40hz.

Using linear phase as basis of correction. Huge learning curve with REW and RePhase but I am taking small steps and listening before changing. My perception of improvement is my guide. I like the MiniDSP as it offers 4 configurations which I can use to switch between different settings (e.g. PEQs, FIRs, CrossOvers, Gains, and Slope)

Welcome aboard, we will be gentle,

Welcome Anthony!

I watch them multiple time and still am loss, hahaha. I guess my neurons are faulty.
I am still waiting for home theater gamer to do his more accessible version for the rest of us.

When I started out with his techniques, I followed step by step. I went very slow, replayed and redid everything I wasn't sure of. I believe my first time through just the first part of his speaker workshop video took me about 18 hours. I know the second part took me 12. Even now I don't fully understand how he comes up with what he does. For example, I was lucky enough to have him ask me for some measurements and the crossover filter he sent me back was different from mine. He's really just on another level.

Hola from Denver. Hardcore Yello fanatic here, oh and Nomyn and Puscifer always on two channels too..

I guess that's what I'm going to have to do. Do everything very very slowly and rewind as many times a needed. Because I guess that Home Theater Gamer is never coming out with his easy to understand version.

Glad you are here Anthony. I've been a 2 channel junkie for many years. Look forward to gabbing with you in the threads.
