Finding sub placement before audyssey

Hi, don't know if this has been asked on here but I want to know if I can use REW to find the best placement for my sub, before I run audyssey? And if so how do I go about doing it, like what do I set the distance setting to in the avr for the delay and what crossover do I use? Or does any of that matter? Sorry I'm new to REW and apologize if this is in the wrong forum.

For initial sub placement delays and crossover don't matter, can just look at the sub's response. If your room is rectangular you can use the room simulator to get an idea hwo different positions may measure before making measurements.
