Filter Format 32 vs 64bit. Anyone Hear a Difference?

I hear no difference- at least with JRiver

What are people using and why? Just curious.

There may be a tiny difference at low frequencies, but probably inaudible.

There is zero possibility of hearing a difference, though many people think they do. Head over to AudioScienceReview.com and check out a wide range of DAC reviews. Each one analyzes the filters provided and shows which differences are possibly audible. The biggest benefit is to filter ultrasonics so you don’t stimulate tweeters and create IMD in the audible range. Never any impact whatsoever at the low end, DAC chip filters don’t kick in until 15k to 22k Hz anyway.

Ultrasonic filters can be implemented with similar practical precison in 32 or 64-bit format.

Never any impact whatsoever at the low end,
LF filters have coefficients that require increased resolution. think what rounding can do to 20Hz opposed to 20,000 Hz. However, as I wrote earlier, I seriously doubt anyone would hear it.

DAC chip filters don’t kick in until 15k to 22k Hz anyway.

There is often a DC eliminator set at about 1Hz. And there maybe signal processing along the way, like cross-overs.
