So who are your favorite artist in the music industry?

I am always looking to expand my music collection with something new... and I have discovered some real doozies along the way.

Pink Floyd - What can I say? My favorite album isn't even TDSOTM... but instead is MLOR. I have about every album they have produced, maybe less an import here and there. Just a great band that I love to listen to.

Cassandra Wilson - I own 8 or 9 of her albums. Most of her albums are stellar recordings and the music is superbly detailed if you are looking that "air between the notes" type recording. My absolute favorite is "Strange Fruit" from her New Moon Daughter album. Investigate those lyrics for an interesting take on the old south.

Yello - Maybe it's bizzare stuff here... they are a bit on the extremely different side, but crank it up and it will test your speakers. I love their Touch album.

Flim & the BB's - All instrumental... and some really really cool jazzy tunes. Funhouse is one of my favorites, along with Tricycle.

Those are just a few... I have lots more!

Steely Dan
My favorite album is The Royal Scam, followed closely by Pretzel Logic, but they had so much great music that it is hard to choose. Can't Buy a Thrill was classic, and I love the Skunk Baxter guitar contributions.

Pink Floyd

Wish You Were Here is my favorite. That may not be what old school or newer Floyd fans prefer but it speaks to me. Welcome to the Machine and Wish You Were Here are my favorite songs.

Natalie Merchant
While I like a lot of stuff from the Maniacs days, my favorite work by far is Tigerlily. Wonder and Phoenix are two of my favorite songs. This is stuff I can listen to over and over and never get tired of hearing.

Allman Brothers Band
At Fillmore East, of course, as they are best digested live, and Where It All Begins, with the feel of the early years. My favorite song is Soulshine (as you can see in my sig), which is really from Govt Mule but the performance combination of Greg Allman's vocals and Warren Haynes' guitar is classic Allman Brothers.

Ive got to agree there, funhouse is a favorit demo track. I use it all the time to show off the dynamics of my system or when I am auditioning speakers someplace.

I'm a huge fan of Lee Ritenour, his mix of jazz fusion/hip hop is fantastic. He is one of only a few artists who constantly features others on his albums so there is always a lot of variety.

Toto is also big on the list. They just recently released an new album that is awesome.

I have such bizarre music tastes I'm not sure where to begin.

One of my all time favorite albums is "Crawl to China" from Tourniquet. They were originally a speed metal band that morphed into more of a grunge metal state by "Crawl to Chinea

Def Leppard - Pyromania is still a personal favorite and i can listen to it for hours

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts - Up Your Alley will be one of the most spun discs in my collection though. I had a massive crush on JJ growing up and still do lol

Let's see... I'm in the same boat as Mike -- eclectic taste in music so I'll just post the top few that come to my head. Not really going to be a complete list of favorites, though!

Metallica - All time favorite. I can always listen to more 'tallica.

Muse - A more recent addition to the all-around favorites category. They are just so unique in their music and their music and albums are quite epic in scale.

Michael Buble - A modern throwback to the Rat Pack, Frank Sinatra, and big band music.

Hans Zimmer - Modern-day composer that just seems to have his hand in everything that is epic and great.

I'm all over the map on this one...

Favorite artists include:

Miracle Legion: A New England 80s/90s college band

Billy Bragg: British singer/song writer that sings about politics and love

The Eagles

A Tribe Called Quest:
Awesome 80s/90s hip-hop group from NYC.

Then you can throw in a ton of classic rock artists, techno bands, 90s american alt pop...artists like Norah Jones...and then indie Brit bands from the 80s/90s (think Housemartins, RIDE, Stereolab, etc). Honestly, I could probably list about 30 favorite artists ;-)
