Are you guys into fantasy football?

I never understood this concept..

Can someone explain it?

Your made up team is dependent on how the real player performs? I have no clue here..

Yep, I love it! You might want to do some Googling if you want to learn the intricacies of it. Too many different formats and scoring leagues to explain. If you like football it's great.

Yeah, I did some preliminary searching but it looks to be very complex. Have to do a draft, etc. I am not sure if I am up to the challenge to learn it all. lol.

Your best bet is join a free league. I'd try ESPN's free league and just learn as you go. It's really not that hard and forces you to pay attention to teams you normally wouldn't. Read the rules and get to know the ins and outs of picking up players because that's the key. You really have to understand rosters and keep track of injuries. The key is identifying backups who will become stalwarts points wise before others in your league. You normally don't finish with the same team you drafted.

Good info.. This seems to be a very time consuming hobby.. hmm, like home theater. ;)

It's really not all that time consuming to play. It is to win however.

Yeah, it would be nice to win of course and for that, you have to be up to the minute on the ins and outs of your players..

There are many apps available to aide you with that.

That is good to know.. If you have any recommendations, please share. :)

See my original post.

ok, will do more research as well as looking at ESPN. :)

I did this for baseball one year and it was really fun. We had a small group of guys in the office where I worked that did it for fun. I really liked drafting the players and then following them. As has been mentioned, it will really cause you to watch some games you might not otherwise watch... pulling for your player. Then you have to keep up with some stats. Of course as fancy as it has gotten with the leagues, there is probably less to track than there use to be.

I wasn't aware there was fantasy baseball as well. I guess if football is there, makes sense to have baseball. :)

Have to look at that now as well.
