(October 15, 2026) Few subjects divide audio enthusiasts quite like cables. There are listeners who consider carefully selected cabling an important final piece of system tuning, while skeptics point to electrical measurements and controlled listening tests as reason to question whether competently designed cables produce meaningful audible differences at all. Esprit's new Generation 10 lineup lands squarely in the former camp and, at its upper reaches, occupies the rarefied high-end territory where owners are willing to leave virtually no stone unturned in pursuit of the ultimate system. Now arriving in the United States following its European debut at High End Vienna 2026, Generation 10 represents the largest overhaul in the French company's nearly 30-year history.
Esprit itself grew out of an obsession with audio. Founder Richard Cesari began hand-building cables for his own system in 1997, eventually making them for friends and other enthusiasts before turning the hobby into a business. Today, the company offers nine cable families ranging from ALPHA through its reference L'ESPRIT line, covering speaker cables, jumpers, RCA and XLR interconnects, phono cables, digital connections, Ethernet, USB, master clock cables, and AC power cords. Generation 10, also referred to as Generation X, reworks every level of that lineup rather than reserving the changes for its most expensive offerings.
The changes go well beyond cosmetics. Esprit has revised cable dimensions and geometries, redesigned its connectors to reduce the amount of material in the signal path, and uses pure copper, silver-plated pure copper, or pure silver center pins depending on the range. Certain cable architectures also move away from Generation 9's symmetrical 0.08mm conductor arrangement, pairing 0.08mm strands on the positive side with larger 0.30mm strands on the negative side. Esprit says the change produces greater dynamics and a more natural presentation, while a revised vacuum-applied insulation process is claimed to improve stability, low-frequency control, and definition. Partial shielding is carried forward from the previous generation, while select models that already employed polarization now adopt a double-polarization design.
Generation 10 is available to order now in the United States through Esprit's authorized dealer network, with distribution handled by Playback Distribution. Pricing covers an enormous span, starting at $499 for a 2-meter pair of ALPHA speaker cables and climbing all the way to $59,999 for a 2-meter pair from the flagship L'ESPRIT range. Interconnects, digital cables, and power cords are also offered across multiple ranges and lengths, with complete U.S. pricing and dealer information available through Playback Distribution.
