i have haven't hooked my emotiva xmc-2 to the net in years does it still get software updates 2026 ?
i went to this forum link as a reddit'er suggested an followed the steps

an well

iv got a issue an or bug my xmc-2 didnt recognize my usb drive so i cant update the
firmware my usb is the TEAMGROUP C211 64GB USB 3.2 Gen 1 3.1/3.0

an i tried both fat & fat32 formats an both front an back usb port
what im i doing wrong

is it my brand usb drive or its size or both ?

I'd be surprised if Emotiva wasn't updating firmware for something as recent as the XMC-2.

It's definitely a possibility that your drive, physically, is the problem. Sometimes drives with large capacities won't mount. I would try to make sure you're using an 8GB or 16GB USB 2.0 flash drive

thanks
have you been able to ubout with a smaller drive

Not specifcally with an Emotiva processor, but I have other devices run by computers that require firmware updates via USB and large capacity drives have always been catch as catch can. Luckily, you can fetch a small drive USB for next to nothing making it easy to test! ;-)

Update us once you give it try! Good luck!

update i still cant get it to see or update from my flashdrive i got a 4gb usb 2.0 drive an formated to fat32
still no joy
i followed the step listed here
does anyone have a confirmed step by step an usb pick that works

Hmm. You know, I just ran into a similar problem with my projector. Took me 4 attempts to find a USB stick that worked.

No idea why, but the first three were duds.

For you, are you turning the XMC-2 on first, then inserting the USB, then going to menu to initiate update?

so i finilly found two usb drives that worked an i was able to upgrade the firmware
but

after i nstalled v5.5 on my e-arc enabled xmc-2 to fix some bugs an it worked
but nowbut not those bugs seem worth living with an the v5.5 has borked my ability to

export an import eq filter an caused audio drop out as not in picking up the audio signal from my apple tv+ gen3 app's specifically switching between apps an epi's in them it loses to audio signal

an seems like an i dont know if this has anything to do with but toggling the audio mode option between
auto & 16bit brings it back but thats f'ing annoying also i lost use of the phone app

so could i go back after a factory reset and re-install v3.2

update
i got diract to work now an the phone app works in multi mode

using this house curve geni to make a custom curve to use my in my dirac live calibration filter window after the default cal
https://nonotuningtool.com/curve/Grhdis3olx for my Acoustech PL-89II bic towers an RB-81 II ( as center ) id like to set a more
warmer sound curve for the center & a 6db bass bump from 40hz to 200hz an
recessed treble from -4db from 3k to 10k for the fronts with a 4db gain boost for the front 3 speakers

my question is what would those look like so i can load to dirac an have it calibrate for the filter export

You can use different curves per speaker group, but it often causes level and tonal mismatches when everything plays together. For the front stage, it’s best to use one consistent curve so imaging and panning stay natural.

I'd say instead of using a 4dB gain boost for the front three... cut the surround speakers -4 dB.

You can experiment with the tool and target curves... adjust and save until you hear what you like. Here's an example of what you are suggesting... or close to it.
