But still no Dirac Live... I don't get it... what is the deal with Emotiva not being able to offer a processor that is complete?

That is a very good offer none the less.

I will upgrade, but not until Dirac 2.0 is available. I traded a couple emails with Emotiva and watched their most recent blog. To summarize the info from the podcast and emails with Customer Care:

- Podcast says Dirac is hoped to be available "by Christmas"
- There will be one version for the XMC-2 and RMC, equivalent to the Full version. No Lite version. Dirac wants all partner products on the same platform.
- Dirac plans future upgrades to bass management. One will be free, others will be a paid upgrade.

I honestly believe that Emotiva's open communication with their users ("The Lounge") is destroying their reputation. They announce products way too early. They make too many consolations to their users. They take a ton of heat when delaying products. Then they finally cave and release products that aren't ready for prime time.

As for Dirac, I am giving them the benefit of the doubt on this one. Dirac has made a couple announcements that THEY have run into delays on their end. Emotiva still has not received a finalized API from Dirac.

But if they hadn't announced so early and released prematurely, it may have been a completely different image.

Yes, the trade-in is still a fantastic deal. Not only are you gaining Atmos/DTS:X, but you're getting all brand new hardware, 16 balanced channels, a new version of Dirac (eventually), a brand-new 5-year warranty, even if your XMC-1 was already out of warranty, etc. All for the exact same price that they were going to charge to send in your XMC-1 and have it upgraded to Atmos/DTS:X capable.

Whoa, attractive offer. I am good with my XMC-1 7.2 capability... for now.

Just signed up for trade to the XMC-2. Shows "Unavailable", hoping for the next round.

I just shipped out my XMC-1 to the buyer this week, put an Anthem AVM60 in the rack a few weeks ago.
