(July 20, 2017) The countdown to CEDIA 2017 is officially on, and Emotiva isn’t shying away from grabbing headlines. Yesterday, the tech site Technology Integrator revealed the company’s plans to unveil its highly anticipated RMC-1 Processor at the annual industry show. Emotiva will demo the processor in a room featuring a massive 7.4.4 system.

The RMC-1 is poised to be the industry’s most affordable immersive sound processor capable of running system configurations larger than 7.2.4. Tentatively priced at $4,999, it offers 16-channels of processing power with a native capability to manage system configurations ranging from 7.4.4 to 7.3.6. It also delivers room correction using Dirac Live.

Emotiva has loaded the RMC-1 with all of the modern technologies needed for full 4K video support, including eight HDMI 2.0b inputs, two HDMI 2.0b outputs, and HDCP 2.2 compatibility. In addition, it carries an all-analog preamplifier section, 32-bit AD/DA conversion with AKM Verita DACs, and 16 balanced outputs.

On the codec side of the equation, the RMC-1 has native onboard decoding of DSD audio received from HDMI and USB sources. It can also deliver both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X surround sound, in addition to Auro-3D (unlocked for an additional fee).

“A significant number of our dealer friends on the front line are entrenched in the custom channel, and an increasing number are specifying Emotiva for installations that call for a true high-performance sonic solution,” said Dan Laufman, President and Founder, Emotiva Audio Corp. “It’s what makes Emotiva a favorite among installers who need audio equipment that sounds great and is reasonably priced.”

This is obviously a statement piece of equipment, opening the door to a new frontier of sub-$10,000 immersive sound performance.

In other Emotiva news, the company has officially begun selling its Airmotiv Tower and C2 Center Channel speakers in limited numbers. Priced at less than $1,000 per pair, the Airmotiv Tower is turning quite a few heads and proving to be popular. According to Emotiva: “The T2 Towers are flying off shelves here in our warehouse, so don’t delay in placing your order.”

The arrival of new speaker models is forcing older models into closeout status. The company says it still has limited stock of its discontinued Airmotiv 5S ($499/pair) and Airmotiv 6S ($699/pair) speakers, in addition to its Stealth DC-1 DAC. Visit Emotiva on the web for more information.

For those of you that may be making the trip to Nashville/Franklin, TN for EmoFest 2017, I have the distinct feeling that a pre-CEDIA demo run of the RMC-1 and it's immersive audio capabilities will be on display. It just so happens that EmoFest, Sept 2-3, is the weekend before CEDIA 2017.

Are you planning on attending EmoFest?

Absolutely, I've not missed one yet!!! They took a few years off, ie: 2014-2016, because of the emphasis on their growth as a company, so I'm excited to see close friends in the home theater world that I've not spent time with since 2013, though I continually keep up to date with the Emotiva family in Franklin, TN. Below is some details of this years EmoFest.

Emofest 2017 is a two-day event:

Tech Day:
Saturday Sept. 2, 10AM – 4 PM

Attend a variety of technical talks, audio demonstrations, and educational seminars. These will include a mix of general audio topics, current audio technology and industry trends, and technical insights into the development of some of our new products.

Open House and Customer Appreciation Day:
Sunday Sept. 3, 10AM – 5 PM

Get a behind-the-scenes look at our new manufacturing, engineering, and fulfillment services facilities, and spend more time experiencing our many audio demonstrations. We’ll have food, prizes, and other exciting customer giveaways.

Awesome! Would you mind coming back and detailing some of what you saw? I'm sure quite a few folks will be curious.

And if any of your Emotiva buddies are looking for a fun new hangout...well... we're open for business :T

Thanks LCSeminole!

If possible take pictures if you can. I am also interesting in seeing what is happening there. :)

Definitely will give you guys an update once the festivities are over. There are quite a few of us from the Emotiva Lounge that will be going and there is always a thread that starts during the event and gets pictures posted, questions asked/answered as things are going on at EmoFest. After the event, many of those Lounge members post their pictures, and again questions asked/answered. The best part of the questions is that they mainly come straight from Dan & Lonnie, so no hearsay. In the past, I've set up a closed thread on the Lounge where a few members that have acted as a "secretary" have written down answers to specific often requested questions, and this allows members to find these answers in an uncluttered specified place. So I'll post links as well.

Great. Looking forward to the details once you are back from the festivities. :)

Nice... there is a chance I can make it... although that may be Labor Day weekend and we typically have a big sale at our gun shop that weekend.

I promised to provide you all with a link to our Emotiva Lounge coverage of EmoFest 2017 this past weekend, link below. You'll notice that the first few posts are questions that were asked and answered by several of the Lounge members, including myself, and the answers were provided for the most part by, Dan Laufman, Lonnie Vaughn, Ray Dennison & Walter Schofield. If you read through the link/thread in question, you'll find much information on current and upcoming products, especially the RMC-1, with its answer for immersive audio powered by a new DSP chip, the Analog Devices Griffin Light chip, though not much information is available on these chips except that it takes about 5 of the currrent Falcon chips to equal its power. I'm sure more information is to come, so maybe those attending CEDIA 2017 in San Diego starting this Thursday will find out a bit more.

This is something I do not yet need, but I would like to see their new ware in person. Might be a good time for me to drive on over to their facility. Last time I was there, they have always been super nice and obliging.
