I used to loan DVDs and Blu ray but after awhile, I noticed folks were keeping them so I don't loan any out unless I can trust the person to return them..

What about you guys?

Any thoughts?

Dido...used to in the past. Lost a few, never returned. Haven't offered or been asked in years now. Then again, you can rent for a few bucks now days.

Yeah, now it stays with me and if someone asks, I really have to think about it. :)

It's something people just don't return most of the time. Not intentionally, but ignorantly for the most part. I'd lend them out to a friend though.

For the most part it is due to forgetfulness. Then the question comes up of asking them to return it. :)

99.9% of my friends would rather watch my movies in my theater, so I host a lot when I have plans to watch.

The other 0.1% is a friend down the street who borrows them and never forgets to return them.

I would much rather just have people over for movies anyway.

True, best to share the dvd with friends in house! :)

I used to but people don't respect other people and their property. I'd get discs back with scratches and/or fingerprints.

Oh man, that is the worst. One time I lent one out and the guy returned it but it is unreadable.. Such a pain..

I loan to family members but that's it. The one friend that I did lend to actually has a big movie collection himself so he usually buys the movies he wants

Usually folks who have plenty of dvd discs take care of them and if they swap with other folks who have just as much dvd discs, they don't have to worry.. Like minded folks take care of things. :)

I'm in the same boat as thrillcat. Just to add to this: I don't really know anyone that collects discs anymore. Everyone just streams!

Yeah, streaming is easier to get to fast but stores still sell discs. :)

DVD / Blurray disks? What are those? I buy the movie, and put the movie in my server. Then it goes into my collection box in the garage, which my wife has pretty much sold 85% of it. I used to have over 1000 movies / TV shows, but now I don't use the disks because my kids used to take them out and destroy the disk.

If my family or friends want to watch a movie then they can buy it from me for $1 to $5 dollars depending no the movie. Or I will give them access to my server via Plex to watch the movie. Thereafter, they are removed.

Yeah, now a day's, folks don't borrow as much as they used to that is for sure.. :)
