Cross platform compatability issue

Hi can anyone tell me why if I send an Mdat created in version 5.20 on a mac 10.14.6 mojave to someone they cannot open it on a pc ? message "this is not an Mdat file"

Files saved on 10.14.6 can be opened on PCs. The PC should be running a 5.20 beta version to open a file generated by a 5.20 beta version.
