hello Everyone

Recently I purchased a minidsp 4 x 10 with the umik 1 microphone.

this is my stereo speaker setup

big sub centerbox with 2 x jbl 2206H in a portet cabinet
side system 1, jbl 2206H in closed cabinet
side system 2, jbl 2404H and 2425H

the subs are connected to Sansui B2101
mids to Primare 202 x 2
top to Hypex Ncore 400
controle amp is Primare 201
music source is Tidal through Yamaha Musiccast or Primare 204 goldtop

Am I correct in measuring the subs as one unit?
At what frequency ranges should the different boxes be meassured at?
so far I tried subs from 10-100hz
mids from 80-2000hz
tops from 2000-20000hz
If someone has advice to how the xover should be configured that would be nice too, especially hi and lo pass filters but also where to cut between the boxes?
what kind of smoothing should I use for my graphs?

thanks in advance
Kenneth

You should probably find an on-line forum for DIY pro audio speaker systems. It’s highly doubtful that any hi-fi DIY speaker enthusiasts will have a clue about a system like this.

REW graphs for low frequencies (< 200Hz) are best viewed with no smoothing. Full range graphs are best viewed with 1/6- or 1/3-octave smoothing.

Regards,
Wayne

Thanks Wayne

already read a lot and I am wiser now.
My system is not a pro audio system, at least I dont think so. It is a home stereo setup meant for quality listening.

The end use matters little; those are pro-audio drivers commonly found in many JBL commercial / PA speakers, and it’s not typical in a hi fi system to have the drivers in their own separate cabinets (aside from the subwoofer). Not that that’s a bad thing; one of the best-sounding custom pro audio speaker systems I ever heard used JBL drivers.

The point is that few, if any, in the DIY hi-fi community will be able to assist you in setting up a system like yours. If you can’t find a DIY forum for pro audio enthusiasts, then I’m sure JBL tech support can help you with crossover settings (not sure what you’re using for that; didn’t see anything suitable in your equipment list).

Once you get that ironed out, you can do full-range REW measurements to help set the relative levels between the drivers.

Regards,
Wayne
