Channel issues

I recently moved to a different laptop.
Running windows 10 same as old.
I've been running my minidsp for my 4 subs configured on the old laptop so I am familiar with install and use of rew, Asio4all.
Here's my issue. All is installed. Dropdown menu shows 8 channels. Only sound from l/r. Umik is configured, avr is onboard. Please give me some palm to head responses. I've spent hrs, googled until out of ideas.
I've resently removed 2 large fish tanks and moved 2 of my sub so need to figure this out.

AVR in mode for multichannel PCM over HDMI?

Running in multi channel, hooked up through hdmi media input off the avr. The avr is new to the setup as well however.

On some AVR's the front panel HDMI inputs don't seem to support multichannel, so might be worth trying another input.

Sorry I misspoke. It is media player input on back. I will try a different port. I did run YouTube videos while hooked and all channels ran with sound.

Youtube videos will not generate multichannel PCM streams. Multichannel PCM is an uncompressed format and not the same as other multichannel formats, hence the need for the processor to be in a specific mode to accept it.

John I understand about utube not being multi now. So I have managed to download flexasio and asiowasapi. All 3 do the same thing. L/r only even though a dropdown menu shows 8 channels . I have to assume it's my soundcard, despite being an hd audio card. Is there a list of comfirmed soundcards that work. Shouldn't all work?

Multichannel PCM is not supported by all laptop HDMI ports, but if it wasn't supported wouldn't expect to be offered 8 channels. Typically anything called HD Audio would be the onboard audio connections (mic and headphone) rather than the HDMI port, that would more usually be called Intel Display Audio (for an Intel chipset) or similar.

Under advanced properties on windows it shows Denon and says it has 8 channels and the codec option it is capable of. When I run test it shows all speakers hilights each but only sound froml/r
