CEDIA 2018: NAD Showcases Its New Master Series M17 V2 Preamp and M27 Amplifier​

(September 10, 2018) The Lenbrook group had a strong presence at CEDIA 2018, showing off an impressive collection of products from Bluesound, NAD, PSB Speakers, and (new to the US market) DALI. Of course, the streaming solution “BluOS” was also given a high profile look across several different platforms.

On the NAD front, two relatively new 2018 Masters Series models were highlighted. The M17 V2 Surround Sound Preamp Processor ($5,999) and the M27 7-Channel Power Amplifier currently represent two of NAD’s top audio products, locked and loaded with cutting edge-tech that represents the best of what the company has to offer.

The M17 V2 is NAD’s most elite surround processor, providing access to 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos processing, Dirac Live Full room correction (which provides correction above 500Hz, if desired), the promise of DTS:X immersive sound (firmware update expected this fall), and legacy codec coverage. With a backside offering 11.1-channels of balanced XLR outputs, five 4K-compatible HDMI inputs (two out), and high-resolution BluOS wireless functionality, the M17 V2 has the tools to command a high-level home theater experience.

Something to note is the M17 V2’s Modular Design Construction, which allows digital features to be added or altered at a later date. Think of this as investment insurance, allowing the M17 V2 to be upgraded as new technologies – such as HDMI 2.1 – rollout, extending the life of the preamp beyond that of competing non-modular products.

The M27 is a true power-house standalone amplifier, delivering 7-channels capable of outputting 180 watts continuous (8 ohms, all channels driven) with reserves that provide 300 watts of dynamic power. Utilizing Hypex’s latest nCore amp technology and NAD’s PowerDrive circuit, the M27 is designed to command a dynamic presentation loaded with ultra-clean sound. And the addition of SoftClipping means your speakers will be protected from damage in the even clipping occurs.

Both models have been shipping for the better part of the year and can be purchased through any NAD US-based dealer.

All insulation between two or more conductors is also a dielectric whose properties will affect the integrity of the signal. When the dielectric is unbiased, dielectric-involvement (absorption and non-linear release of energy) causes different amounts of time delay (phase shift) for different frequencies and energy levels, which is a real problem for very time-sensitive multi-octave audio. The inclusion of an RF Trap (developed for AudioQuest’s Niagara Series of power products), ensures that radio frequency noise will not be induced into the signal conductors from the DBS field elements. (DBS, US Pat #s 7,126,055 & 7,872,195 B1)

They are AudioQuest devices that are attached to AudioQuest cables/interconnects... You can think of them as a kind of Faraday Cage on a cable plus more secret sauce... Not required... Could be used on many different types of interconnects and speaker cables... Ghosts of Maxwell, Tesla and Faraday...
