It's been a while since I posted some pics of Cedar Creek Cinema, so I figured I would take some new shots and update the site. You can see the full slide show here: http://www.cedarcreekcinema.ws ... and here are a few highlights:

Here you see the SVS PB16-Ultras in each front corner, the MartinLogan Expression 13A's for the front mains, and the Stage X for the center. A Denon X4300H does the processing and powers the surrounds and Atmos speakers. The Parasound Halo A31 powers the front stage speakers. There's an OPPO UDP-205, a Roku and TroyCable box... along with the miniDSP DDRC88A-BM that handles the front mains (Audyssey is run in Bypass L/R mode).

...

Here is the latest REW response graph that includes the front left and right sweeps including the subs... 1/12th smoothing.

...

This shows the relevant distances from the main listening position, from walls, to screen, etc.

...

This is a shot of the seating and rear wall, including the MartinLogan ESL's for surrounds... and the Denon turntable on the left, which I am about to sell.
Not long ago I had an upholstery shop take the blankets I kept draped over the front three seat backs and form them to slip over the backs. Now they
don't move and slide off like they use to all the time. We discovered a while back that this actually helps with the seat reflections behind the ears.

...

The JVC DLA-RS620U Projector with my custom built mount... and the two rear Atmos speakers (MartinLogan EM-IC). Those other two square boxes in
the rear above the pictures are where I use to have the subwoofer columns that opened up into the riser space... dual 18's on each side. I removed those
a couple of years ago. All acoustic treatments are GIK Acoustics.

Looks awesome Sonnie. I was trying to find more info about that center channel. I looked at the ML website and couldnt find it. Maybe they have another section I didnt look.

My favorite center channel from many years ago when I had ML scripts or whatever they were called was a center channel from ML also. It was a big wide center and I loved the sound from that. The new flag ship model looks similar but only the top section. Anyways, always jealous to see a ML HT setup.

Very nice Sonnie! How do you like the JVC?

Thank mech!

Love the JVC thus far... other than it's sure is slower than my Panny was at processing. Changing sources takes about 20-30 seconds. But the picture is fifty-eleven times better for sure!

Not sure if I would be happy 'bout that! Have you checked on a firmware upgrade for it?

Yep... I have the latest firmware. It has surprised me that it is so slow. I am guessing it is par for the course with 4K.

Well, I have been waiting in anticipation for you to post your Theater Room. I have been wondering what it looked like these days. Knowing your always testing out new speakers and products it is always a surprise to see what you have settled on as a preference. The room is looking great. Appreciate you sharing the distances in your audio setup. Is there a specific model you followed to determine that setup?

Thanks... the placement is where we originally found the Montis to sound their best... and the ESL's as well, so we figured this was the spot for the 13A's as well. Unless Wayne moved them a bit when he was here and I did not notice it yet. Notice also that the location is almost identical to the SVS Ultras... it has turned out to be an overall good location.

Very nice room and that screen shot of PE II is straight eye candy.

Sonnie, AV NIRVANA is paying you too well! ;)
Looks like you were able to take CCC's performance to a whole new level, and it was certainly no slouch before.
Your equipment and room are killer! Soooo jealous!

Awesome looking room Sonnie!!!!

Pure Awesome!

The room is very nice. The more important thing is that room response graft, that it about as good as I have seen! Looks like those 16's are kickin it!

Thanks guys!

I need to post a response graph of just the 13A's... they do quite nicely by themselves. The crossover between the PB16's and 13A's is set at 40Hz.

Wow... that says A LOT about the bass prowess of the 13As.

I'm assuming you have that bumped up to 80Hz for your center, surrounds and height channels?

Yes... that is correct.. 80Hz for the center and surrounds, and 100Hz for the Atmos ceiling speakers.

My approach is always to get the best possible sound with speaker placement and then work with room correction - Dirac Live - to polish up the end result. In the case of the Expression 13A, Sonnie's precise placement using the Bosh laser distance measurer was impeccable, and I elected to not touch or move or nudge either 13A so much as a nanometer!

I'll bet there is not a better sounding home theater within a thousand mile radius.

Thanks for the updated measurements and pics, Sonnie.

Thanks Wayne... in more ways that one, you know!!!

I am surely enjoying it.

I don't remember the JVC at Axpona being this slow, but then again it was their $30K model.

I think the main issue is getting all of the gear to talk with the 4K source. If you take the AVR out of the chain and go direct to the PJ, I'd bet the issue goes away.

Is it slow with standard 1080p?

It's slow with any change in inputs... doesn't matter what it is or how it's connected.

Wow Sonnie, thats a great graph for room response!

I need to get a second sub, I wonder how well a PB16u and a 13u would play together?

Thanks Tony.

They 16 and 13 would be fine unless you drove the 16 beyond what the 13 can handle (which could easily happen on peak/loud scenes), then you'd have one with a higher output than the other and any frequency matching is for naught at that higher output. It's typically always better to match output capability with multiple subs if at all possible.
