(January 29, 2020) The High End Show – Munich has taken radical steps to safeguard both attendees and exhibitors from both financial and personal harm. In a statement released yesterday, the show says coronavirus fears have officially shutdown plans to operate the event May 17-19, 2020.

“Given that in addition to the countries affected in Asia, infections in Italy have rapidly increased within a few days, it is unclear how the virus will continue to spread in Europe,” the statement read. “ As organizers of an international trade show, we consider it our responsibility, on the one hand, to safeguard the health of all stakeholders, and on the other hand, to work towards averting possible economic losses of the exhibitors.”

Show organizers say they’ve been carefully monitoring the coronavirus situation since mid-January, fielding questions and concerns form exhibitors. The choice to cancel the prestigious event was made due to “the current worsening trend” of coronavirus around the globe.

The High End Show is a renowned exhibition that occupies a space larger than 300,000 square feet, typically hosting more than 500 exhibitors, 1,500 brands, and some 21,000 visitors.

Anyone that has pre-purchased a ticket will receive a refund.

This is the right move. In Europe and Asia, high risk for corona virus.

What needs to be done is to stop international travel until this is under control. I heard yesterday that the USA is considering this too.

Until a vaccine can be created and distributed, people should use extreme caution in the affected areas especially those who are already in poor health or have a very weak immune system.

Hopefully warmer weather will slow it down or disappear altogether. I worry though that Coronavirus may return every year like the Flu does. Right now they are doing vaccine trials but won't be ready for 18 months from now they say. At the same time with a new vaccine there are risks too because this is all new to us.
