(June 27, 2025) Cambridge Audio has announced the Evo 150 SE, a special edition version of its Evo 150 streaming amplifier. While it maintains the same compact form factor and general design as the original, the SE version introduces several internal upgrades intended to improve sound quality and refine the overall user experience.

Power output remains at 150 watts per channel (into 8 ohms), but the SE offers audio fans access to a newly tuned Hypex NCOREx Class D module. According to Cambridge, this module has been optimized to deliver more musical performance, the direct result of hundreds of hours of listening tests and careful component selection.

"The Evo 150 has been a very special product for Cambridge," says Matt Dore, Cambridge Audio’s Chief Technical Officer. "For this special edition, we’ve pushed the boundaries of what to expect from Class D amplification."

The digital side of Evo 150 SE uses an ESS SABRE ES9018k2m DAC and supports a wide range of inputs including two optical, one coaxial, USB Audio, USB Media, HDMI ARC, and a dedicated Evo CD input. Analog sources are also covered with a built-in MM phono stage, balanced XLR inputs, RCA line inputs, and pre-outs. Two subwoofer outputs and dual sets of speaker terminals round out an impressive array of options, giving users quite a bit of system flexibility.

Streaming support is handled by Cambridge’s StreamMagic platform, compatible with Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz, Deezer, Internet Radio, Apple AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Bluetooth aptX HD, and Roon. And, to add an exciting twist, a refreshed version of the StreamMagic app is launching simultaneously with the SE, opening access to EQ tools and multiple genre-based presets.

Visually, the Evo 150 SE stays close to the original’s design, featuring the same 6.8-inch color display and dual concentric control knob. Optional side panels are included, allowing owners to choose between a real wood finish or the grooved industrial look from the original Evo lineup. The new SE model also introduces Cambridge’s updated Lunar Grey finish and serves as the first product to carry its revised branding.

The Evo 150 SE will be available in July through Cambridge Audio’s website and select dealers. Pricing is set at $3,299 USD (£1,999 or €2,399).
